Expedient is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, build, and deploy automation solutions across the organization. You will partner with teams to understand workflows, evaluate automation opportunities, and deliver reliable tooling in production environments.

This role blends hands-on engineering with stakeholder engagement, using AI tools effectively within a disciplined workflow. The work is hybrid, near Baltimore, MD or Pittsburgh, PA, with a salary range of $90,000–$130,000 depending on

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python and automation scripting.
• Experience shipping production automation using AI coding tools.
• Ability to analyze processes and identify practical opportunities for automation.
• Experience collecting data from multiple sources and building REST APIs.
• Strong communication with non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Assess existing processes across the organization and determine best automation approach.
• Meet with stakeholders to understand needs and translate into actionable automation requirements.
• Design, build, and deploy automation solutions, primarily in Python.
• Use AI coding tools as core parts of development workflow, including prompting and reviewing AI-generated code.
• Build and maintain internal applications and dashboards with low-code and real code as needed.
• Maintain, monitor, and improve automation infrastructure and scripts.
• Deploy and operate solutions using CI/CD, containers, and Kubernetes.
• Support internal builders and citizen developers for secure and performant solutions.
• Communicate project status and tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders.
• Manage multiple projects and balance priorities.
