Job Title: Production Associate - Truss Builder at 84 Lumber

Overview

A Truss Builder is responsible for assembling wood trusses used in residential and commercial construction. This involves reading blueprints, measuring and cutting materials, and using hand and power tools to construct trusses according to specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble roof and floor trusses using pre-cut lumber and metal connector plates
  • Read and interpret blueprints or work orders
  • Operate saws, nail guns, and other hand/power tools safely
  • Ensure trusses meet quality control standards
  • Work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment to meet daily quotas
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE

Schedule:

  • 1st Shift: Monday through Friday, 6:00 am to 2:30 pm - $17.50/hour
  • 2nd Shift: Monday through Friday, 3:30 pm to 2:00 am - $19/hour

Full benefits are available after 60 consecutive days of work.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Insert or position materials, clamp, splice, and fit parts by hand and with power tools
  • Verify dimensions of cut materials following supervisor instructions and blueprints
  • Use hammers to place metal reinforcement plates over joints
  • Perform quality control and suggest process improvements to increase efficiency
  • Follow production priorities and use press stations to assemble components
  • Complete daily machine and area cleanup procedures

Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, diagrams, blueprints, and use a tape measure
  • Ability to work 10-12 hour shifts and lift up to 80 pounds
  • High school diploma or GED
