Job summary

Greif is seeking a Production Associate for the second shift (2:30 pm to 12:30 am, Monday–Thursday with overtime as required). The role involves safely setting up equipment, reading work orders, performing measurements, assisting with changeovers, and ensuring quality per CSAR standards.

You will support the machine operator with mandrel adjustments, monitor for quality issues, and help with material counts and palletization. The position emphasizes reliability and mechanical reading skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
• Ability to read work orders and understand measurements.
• Physically able to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for 10 hours.

Responsibilities

• Set up equipment safely to meet production requirements.
• Read and interpret work orders to determine packaging requirements.
• Read a tape measure and use calipers and micrometers for measurements.
• Assist with changeovers between work orders and setup.
• Assist the machine operator with mandrel installation and adjustments.
• Communicate quality concerns, equipment issues, and material counts to the operator.
• Remove finished cores and stack them onto pallets or trays.
• Perform periodic quality checks using the CSAR quality system.
• Identify which nylon cutting sleeves to use and when to change them.
• Assist in troubleshooting and correcting quality issues such as double cuts, burrs, and fuzzy ends.
• Follow OPEX recordkeeping requirements and apply root-cause problem-solving methods.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Second shift - 2:30 pm to 12:30 am Monday through Thursday with overtime on Friday and Saturday as required.

• Safely set up equipment to meet production requirements.
• Read and interpret work orders to understand order packaging requirements.
• Calculate conversion of fractions to decimals, able to read a tape measure and use calipers and micrometers.
• Assist with changeovers between work orders to meet specifications.
• Assist the machine operator with installation and adjustment of mandrel during setup process.
• Communicate regularly with machine operator notifying keeping the operator informed of quality concerns, equipment issues, and material counts.
• Remove finished cores as needed and manually stack them onto pallets, racks, or into trays.
• Perform periodic quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications and/or COAs using the CSAR quality system.
• Determine which nylon cutting sleeves to use and when they need to be changed.
• Help troubleshoot and correct quality issues such as double cuts, fuzzy ends, burrs, and hair.
• Comply with all OPEX recordkeeping requirements.
• Possess knowledge and understanding of root cause and problem-solving methods.

Education and Experience

• Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent).

Knowledge and Skills

• Basic verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
• Ability to work in a variety of roles.
• Must have mechanical aptitude including the ability to use hand tools.
• Must be dependable and able to work regular 10-hour shift from 2:30 pm to 12:30 am Monday through Thursday with overtime on Friday and Saturday as required.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs. or less
• Ability to bend, twist, and walk frequently during 10-hour shift.

Compensation Range:

The pay range for this position is $17.55 - $28.03annually. Typical, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between17.55 to28.03. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. If the competitive wage is equal in both fields, the starting rate is the same for all applicants that apply for this role. The starting rate is not representative of future compensation increases. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
