Production Associate | Converse

Success Profile:

The Production Associate supports the Sourcing Team in managing the pre-production and production stages of the product (garment) lifecycle, from initial concept to finished goods delivery. This role involves communication with design and the global vendor base, creation and management of WIP (Work-In-Progress) reports, and issuing POs (Purchase Orders) to support team members in the G-III China Sourcing Office. The associate coordinates Buy Charts for department use in monthly Buy Meetings with Sales and Design teams, proactively highlights development issues, partners with the Manager on resolutions, prepares initial costing, tracks internal development milestones, and attends fittings as needed. The role interfaces with Sales, Merchandising, and Design teams.

Location (On-Site): New York City, Midtown Manhattan – Fashion District

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Reporting & Analysis: Creates and manages WIP reports for development tracking and garment delivery; coordinates Buy Charts for monthly Buy Meetings with Sales and Design teams; provides status reports to the manager while overseeing data entry in the G-III China Sourcing Office.
  2. Vendor Communication: Manages daily development processes through communication with global vendors throughout the product lifecycle; highlights development issues proactively and discusses resolutions with the manager; communicates approvals to vendors within required timeframes.
  3. Sample Management: Tracks samples for Public Relations and Global Sales channels and assists with special requests.
  4. Production Management: Manages purchase orders; owns Seasonal Production Validation meetings; prepares initial costing and partners with internal teams; attends production fittings as required.
  5. Product Development: Collaborates with the Design team for product development approvals; tracks internal development milestones from tech pack submission through TOP samples.
  6. Product Lifecycle Management: Utilizes systems such as AS400, Gerber Web PDM, and Yunique PLM.
  7. Special Projects: Takes on and completes assigned special projects.

Education and Experience:

  • 2 to 4 years of apparel production experience in a SKU-intensive environment, required.
  • College degree or equivalent professional experience, required.

Skills and Behaviors:

  • Advanced MS Excel skills: data manipulation, pivot tables, V-LOOKUP.
  • Working knowledge of WebPDM, PLM, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint; experience with AS400 is an asset.
  • Strong project management and multi-tasking skills with high attention to detail.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Motivated to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with departments, vendors, and overseas offices.

The pay range for this position is: $28.85 per hour/$60,000 per year (based on a 40-hour work week) - $33.65 per hour/$70,000 per year (based on a 40-hour work week).
