Job summary

A chemical manufacturing company in Plattsmouth, Nebraska is seeking equipment operators to monitor and control chemical production processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing environment and be able to work safely and effectively in a team. Responsibilities include operating production equipment, adjusting process variables, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This is a full-time position with a starting wage of $20.00/hr, benefits including medical insurance, and a 401(k) plan.

Qualifications

  • Some exposure or experience working with chemicals is a plus, but can be trained for the right person.
  • Knowledge of chemical processes, equipment, and safety standards (OSHA, PSM, environmental compliance).
  • Ability to read and interpret SOPs, batch sheets, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Mechanical aptitude with exposure to vacuum pumps, valves, control panels, and instrumentation.
  • Advanced communication skills and ability to work effectively on a shift team.
  • Willingness to work 4 day work week (10-12 hrs./day).
  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree and/or technical certifications preferred.
  • 1-2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing facility/production environment/plant operations is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor chemical production equipment such as reactor tanks, distillation columns, pumps, compressors, and filtration systems.
  • Adjust process variables (temperature, pressure, flow rates, levels) to maintain optimal conditions and product specifications.
  • Perform regular inspections of plant systems to identify and resolve issues or escalate to maintenance/engineering teams.
  • Start up, shut down, and clean process equipment in accordance with SOPs and safety protocols.
  • Accurately record operating data, process changes, and shift reports.
  • Collect in-process samples and collaborate with quality control personnel to ensure product compliance.
  • Handle and transfer raw materials, intermediates, and finished products using proper procedures.
  • Respond to alarms, upsets, and emergency situations following plant safety and emergency response protocols.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities and assist with equipment troubleshooting.
  • Work as part of a team.

Position Summary
