Morgan Truck Body in Plainfield, CT is hiring a Production Associate for 1st Shift. You’ll be hands-on assembling full truck bodies, reading blueprints, and using wood and metal components to build reliable products.

The position starts at 6 AM to 2:30 PM with potential overtime and a $4,000 bonus. You’ll learn on the job, grow with internal promotion paths, and join a team that emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old and capable of performing physically demanding tasks.
• Basic math and blueprint reading skills required.
• Familiarity with carpentry, electrical assembly, and tool usage is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints and work orders with accuracy.
• Cut wood and metal to spec using saws and shears.
• Assemble components with bolts, screws, and rivets.
• Safely operate pneumatic and hand tools and maintain equipment.
• Perform quality and safety checks to ensure standards.

What a Day in Your Life Looks Like:

• Blueprint Reading: Interpret blueprints, work orders, specifications, and safety requirements with accuracy.
• Cutting & Fabrication: Cut wood and metal to precise specifications using saws, shears, and other equipment.
• Assembly: Build and fasten components using bolts, screws, rivets, clips, and other hardware.
• Tool Operation: Safely and efficiently operate pneumatic and hand tools.
• Machine Setup & Maintenance: Set up equipment and perform preventive maintenance to keep production moving.
• Quality Inspection: Inspect finished products to identify defects and ensure quality standards are met.
• Observation: Complete required safety and quality checks to maintain a reliable work environment.
• Safety Commitment: Follow all company safety policies and help create a safe workplace for everyone.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Basic math, tape measurement, and computer skills
• Basic knowledge of carpentry and electrical assembly principles.
• Working with hand and power tools
• Reading and interpreting blueprints
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Must be 18 years old

What Sets You Apart:

• Previous experience in manufacturing
• Previous experience working on truck bodies
• Experience with electrical wiring, panel assembly, or related electrical work.
• Experience with custom fabrication, woodworking, or carpentry projects.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Previous experience in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments.
• Construction, landscaping, or farming experience is a plus
• High School Diploma or equivalent GED

Physical Requirements:

In this hands-on role, you'll be on your feet-standing for extended periods, walking, and using your hands to operate tools and equipment with precision. Clear communication is key, so you'll be regularly required to talk and listen as part of a safety-focused, team-driven environment. You’ll also lift up to 35 pounds and perform physical movements like bending, squatting, reaching overhead, and occasionally crawling in tight spaces. Repetitive hand tasks and climbing ladders or working at heights are part of the role.
