Morgan Truck Body in Plainfield, CT is hiring a Production Associate for 1st shift. You’ll help assemble full truck bodies, using hand and power tools, reading blueprints and following safety procedures to deliver quality builds.

The role offers an entry-level pay of $19.25 per hour with potential overtime and a $4,000 bonus. Morgan promotes from within and provides benefits, paid holidays, and growth opportunities on a fast-paced factory floor.

Qualifications

• Basic math, tape measurement, and computer skills.
• Basic knowledge of carpentry and electrical assembly principals.

• Must be 18 years old

Responsibilities

• Blueprint reading and interpretation of specs and safety requirements.
• Cutting wood and metal to precise specs using saws and tools.
• Assemble and fasten components with bolts, screws, rivets, etc.
• Safe operation of pneumatic and hand tools.
• Set up equipment and perform preventive maintenance to keep production moving.
• Inspect finished products for defects and ensure quality standards.
• Complete required safety and quality checks to maintain a reliable work environment.
• Follow all company safety policies and help create a safe workplace for everyone.

What a Day in Your Life Looks Like:

• Blueprint Reading: Interpret blueprints, work orders, specifications, and safety requirements with accuracy.
• Cutting & Fabrication: Cut wood and metal to precise specifications using saws, shears, and other equipment.
• Assembly: Build and fasten components using bolts, screws, rivets, clips, and other hardware.
• Tool Operation: Safely and efficiently operate pneumatic and hand tools.
• Machine Setup & Maintenance: Set up equipment and perform preventive maintenance to keep production moving.
• Quality Inspection: Inspect finished products to identify defects and ensure quality standards are met.
• Observation: Complete required safety and quality checks to maintain a reliable work environment.
• Safety Commitment: Follow all company safety policies and help create a safe workplace for everyone.

What You Bring to the Table:

• Basic math, tape measurement, and computer skills
• Basic knowledge of carpentry and electrical assembly principals.
• Working with hand and power tools
• Reading and interpreting blueprints
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Must be 18 years old

What Sets You Apart:

• Previous experience in manufacturing
• Previous experience working on truck bodies
• Experience with electrical wiring, panel assembly, or related electrical work.
• Experience with custom fabrication, woodworking, or carpentry projects.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
• Previous experience in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments.
• Construction, landscaping, or farming experience is a plus
• High School Diploma or equivalent GED

Physical Requirements:

In this hands‑on role, you'll be on your feet‑standing for extended periods, walking, and using your hands to operate tools and equipment with precision. Clear communication is key, so you'll be regularly required to talk and listen as part of a safety-focused, team-driven environment. You’ll also lift up to 35 pounds and perform physical movements like bending, squatting, reaching overhead, and occasionally crawling in tight spaces. Repetitive hand tasks and climbing ladders or working at heights are part of the role.
