Position Overview:

We are looking for passionate and detail-oriented individuals to join our production team as Upholstery Trainees. With dedicated on-the-job training, you'll master the art of upholstery, starting from the basics and advancing to a highly skilled Upholsterer. Once fully trained, you can earn up to $30.00 per hour!

Monthly Bonus Potential: In addition to competitive hourly wages, this role offers monthly bonus potential based on meeting production targets. If you consistently meet or exceed individual production goals, you can earn a performance-based bonus, recognizing your contributions and commitment to success.

Responsibilities:

1. Preparation Techniques: Learn and apply techniques for preparing upholstery materials, including the use of ring flex to prep backs.
2. Gluing Processes: Assist in preparing surfaces for gluing, including applying gluing to seat covers and ensuring proper adhesion.
3. Edge Application: Learn to apply plastic extruded edges along frames to ensure a neat and durable finish.
4. Assembly Support: Support the assembly of upholstered furniture components, including aligning and attaching materials according to specifications.
5. Quality Control: Inspect completed upholstery work to ensure it meets quality standards, making necessary adjustments as directed by the Upholstery Supervisor.
6. Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and clean upholstery tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and reporting any issues to the Upholstery Supervisor.
7. Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures related to upholstery work, including the use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of materials and tools.
8. Tracking and Reporting: Track and record daily work progress and productivity, entering relevant data into the ERP system to monitor performance and ensure accurate reporting of production metrics.
9. Production Targets: Work efficiently to meet production rates and targets, collaborating with the team to ensure that upholstery tasks are completed on time and contribute to overall production goals.
10. Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other upholstery team members and departments to ensure smooth workflow and efficient production processes.
11. Skill Improvement: Continuously seek feedback and guidance from experienced staff to improve upholstery skills and knowledge, demonstrating a commitment to learning and development.

Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in upholstery or a related field is a plus.
2. Basic knowledge of upholstery techniques and materials is preferred but not required.
3. Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
4. Good manual dexterity and the ability to work with various upholstery tools.
5. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
6. Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and processes in upholstery.
7. Basic understanding of safety procedures and the ability to adhere to safety guidelines.

Physical Requirements:

The Upholstery Trainee at Gasser Chair is expected to perform job duties primarily in a manufacturing environment. The role requires the ability to stand up to 10 hours per day, lift and move upholstery materials and tools, and work with hands and manual tools. The ability to work in various positions, including bending and reaching, is essential. The role also requires good visual acuity for inspecting work and attention to detail in performing tasks.
