The University of Pennsylvania's Penn Live Arts department is seeking a Production Associate to support events, digital and performance-based needs. This is a part-time temporary role with evening/weekend hours, not eligible for benefits under IATSE. Location is Philadelphia, PA.

Responsibilities include lighting, audio, video setup, livestream support, and assisting with stage carpentry or rigging as required. Training opportunities are available to grow skill sets.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting live events in a theater or arts venue.
• Ability to hang, focus, or strike stage lighting and set up audio/visual gear.

Job Description Summary

Reporting to Penn Live Arts' Artistic Project Manager andsupervised by various members of the full-time production team, theProduction Associate is a part-time temporary position dedicated tosupplementing the various event, digital, and performance-basedlabor needs of Penn Live Arts.

Job Description

Production Associates will be called on to perform basic tasksincluding, but not limited to; hanging, focusing, or striking stagelighting; setting up stage audio or portable PA systems; setting upprojections and/or playback equipment; setting up or striking stageproperties such as chairs, music stands, platforms, choral risers,and acoustic shells; digital video camera operation or otherlivestream or digital video support; wardrobe maintenance andsupport; and general assistance in all back-of-house technical andshop spaces.

Depending on the skillset that each Associate brings to the table,they may also be tasked with; programming lighting consoles (ETCEos Family); programming audio or video in QLab or Playback Pro;programming or operating digital audio consoles (Yamaha CL and TRseries, DiGiCo, or Behringer X32); livestream engineering, cameraoperation, video direction, or minor post-production video editing;stage managing or supervising venue activities; or assisting withstage carpentry or theatrical rigging projects.

Training opportunities will be available for Associates wishing toexpand or deepen their skillsets.

These positions would be scheduled on an as-needed basis, dependenton venue workloads and full-time staff bandwidth, with as muchadvance notice as possible. Due to the nature of performing arts,live and digital events, these positions would require significantevening and weekend hours. Production Associates are not eligiblefor benefits or to work on any performances or events under IATSEjurisdiction.
