Job summary

Sonoco Products in Canton, Ohio is seeking a Production Associate to support packaging production on a 7PM – 7AM continuous schedule. You will inspect product, operate forklifts, input production data, and keep the work area safe and clean.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect product and report defects to supervisor/quality technician.
  • Keep work area and machinery clean and safe; perform cleaning and housekeeping duties.
  • Operate forklift as required during routine duties.
  • Enter production and quality information into production software.
  • Maintain positive working relationships and participate in continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide on-the-job training to assigned personnel.
  • Inspect in-process materials and finished products.
  • Replenish supplies for the assigned area.

Position: Production Associate

Location: Canton, Ohio (Warner Road)

Wage: $24.46

Shift: 7PM – 7AM (3,2,2 Continuous Schedule)

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Inspect product throughout the shift and notify the production supervisor and quality technician of any quality defects through visual inspection and detailed quality inspection procedures.
  • Keep the work area and machinery clean and safe, performing cleaning, painting and housekeeping duties.
  • Operate forklift as required during routine duties.
  • Enter production and quality information into production software and communicate relevant information to the next shift.
  • Maintain effective working relationships throughout the department and company, handling stress and interacting positively to minimize conflicts.
  • Participate in teams and work groups focused on continuous improvement.
  • Comply with all safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives.
  • Follow the guidelines of the food safety system.
  • Fundamentally perform routine manual or mechanical production functions required to operate production equipment to meet customer specifications.
  • Stage and maintain packaging materials, following correct packaging and banding procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining production equipment as required.
  • Provide on‑the‑job training to assigned personnel.
  • Conduct inspection of in‑process materials and finished products.
  • Replenish supplies and materials required for the assigned area.
