Job summary

Oldcastle APG, Inc. is seeking a general yard worker to assemble orders, wrap pallets, and load them onto customer vehicles using a forklift. The role requires forklift certification, the ability to read safety and operating manuals, and strong customer interaction skills.

Candidates should be self-motivated, capable of basic math, and bilingual in English and Spanish. Prior forklift experience is preferred; flexibility and physical stamina are important for standing and lifting up to 100 lbs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must pass internal forklift certification.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers or employees.
• Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.
• Ability to perform basic math using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Experience operating forklift or heavy equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receive orders from supervisor and gather correct products by hand or forklift; assemble orders for customer; place for pickup.
• Safely operate forklift to move pallets to staging areas or load onto vehicles.
• Interact with customers in a friendly, professional manner to verify orders.
• Perform routine forklift maintenance: recharge batteries, lubricate, refuel, clean.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in assigned area.
• Assist with additional duties as needed.

Job Summary

This is a general yard worker role, in which individuals will be assembling orders, wrapping completed pallets, and loading them onto customer vehicles with a forklift. Individuals will be certified to utilize a forklift by Coastal.

Job Responsibilities

• Receive customer order slips from supervisor, gather correct products by hand or with forklift, assemble orders for customer, leave in designated spot for pick up
• Safely utilize forklift to move completed pallets to staging areas, or to load pallets onto vehicles
• Work directly with customers in a friendly, professional, positive manner to check orders
• Perform basic, routine maintenance to include recharging batteries; lubricating, fueling and cleaning forklift
• Make sure all housekeeping is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion in assigned area
• Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; a minimum of two years of related experience in trades specific to job requirements; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must be able to pass an internal certification program
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization
• Ability to be a self-starter and work independently
• Ability to add, subtract multiply and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
• Maintain a high level of accuracy in all aspects of work assignments
• Ability to work a flexible schedule
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Previous experience operating a forklift or other heavy equipment like a front-end loader or bulldozer
• While performing the duties of this job the employee will be required to frequently stand on their feet for extended periods of time
• Must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
• Withstand repetitive motion of the hand, wrist, elbow, and shoulder
