Job Summary
The Production Assistant is responsible for properly performing activities relative to assisting the extrusion operator in efficiently operating the extrusion equipment and producing quality products within a large, 24/7 manufacturing environment. Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Contribute to accident-free operations and compliance to all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements and regulations.
- Assist the department in producing a quality product based upon product specifications; complete production operator reports with high attention to detail.
- Monitor, complete, and document quality checks to assure quality of the products (color, surface, size, etc.) meets product standards prior to packaging, as required.
- Perform placement of pallets, proper packaging techniques, and attach labels for finished material according to process instructions and product specifications.
- Communicate daily issues and pertinent information to production assistants, assistant operators, operators and team leaders as needed.
- In the Rail Plant, may assist extrusion operator with all machine cleaning functions including saws, tanks, etc. as needed.
- Understand and follow all company policies, practices, and procedures.
- Perform housekeeping duties in the production area.
- Perform additional duties as needed and/or assigned by management.
Qualifications, Education And Experience
- High School or GED required
- 1+ years of manufacturing experience, preferred; however, no prior experience is necessary.
- Ability to read, write, and understand the English language. Basic mathematical proficiency in the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers and fractions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read gauges and use similar measuring devices.
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the job including: Push / Pull / Lift / Manipulate 10lbs-100lbs.
- Ability to stand for complete shift; kneeling, lifting overhead, bending climbing and crawling are often required.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment where temperatures that can become very hot depending on the weather.
- Must be self-directed and motivated and able to multi-task in fast-paced, 24/7 manufacturing environment.
- Work schedule flexibility, with advance notice, to accommodate needs of the business.
