Job summary

Ethra in Sheridan, Wyoming, onsite, is seeking a Production Assistant to support all distillation and production operations.

This role assists in mashing, fermentation, distillation, aging and bottling, while helping maintain quality, efficiency, and safety under the Head Distiller and Head of Operations. A hands-on learner with attention to detail will thrive in our fast-paced, entrepreneurial craft distillery.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in distilling, brewing, fermentation, or food and beverage production.
• Prior distillery, brewery, or manufacturing exposure preferred but not required.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and lift 50+ lbs.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to follow detailed processes and instructions.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all distillation and production operations including mashing, fermentation, distillation, aging, and bottling.
• Support recipe execution and batch production under the Head Distiller.
• Monitor fermentation activity, temperatures and production data for quality.
• Clean, sanitize, and maintain production equipment and workspaces.
• Assist with barrel filling, storage and inventory tracking.
• Support quality control processes to maintain consistency.
• Maintain production records, logs and batch documentation.
• Assist with raw material handling and inventory management.
• Support bottling, labeling and packaging operations as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulations.
• Assist with general facility upkeep and organization.
• Support special projects and new product development.

Reports to Head Distiller

Position Overview

The Production Assistant will support all distillation and production operations at the distillery. This role is responsible for assisting in day-to-day production activities including mashing, fermentation, distillation, aging, and bottling, while ensuring quality, consistency, and operational efficiency.

This position works closely with the Head Distiller & the Head of Operations and is ideal for someone looking to develop hands on experience in craft distilling while contributing to the growth of premium spirits rooted in the heritage and landscape of Sheridan and the Bighorn Mountains.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, hardworking, and passionate about craft spirits, with a strong willingness to learn and grow within a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• - Assist in all distillation and production operations including mashing, fermentation, distillation, aging, and bottling
• - Support recipe execution and batch production under the direction of the Head Distiller
• - Monitor fermentation activity, temperatures, and production data to ensure quality standards are met
• - Clean, sanitize, and maintain all production equipment and workspaces

Qualifications

• - Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (lifting 50+ lbs, standing for long periods, working in varying temperatures)
• - Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• - Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation
• - Strong organizational and communication skills
• - Ability to follow detailed processes and instructions
• - Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• - Degree or coursework in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, or related field (preferred but not required)
• - Familiarity with fermentation and distillation processes (preferred but not required)
• - Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain)
