Job summary

Nexstar Media Group, Inc. is seeking a Production Assistant to support television production for live and recorded broadcasts. The role involves composing and framing shots, operating studio and remote cameras, and collaborating with directors on sequences, lighting, and graphics.

Responsibilities include setting up equipment, maintaining gear, and producing graphics for the newscast. Strong communication and multitasking abilities are essential to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom

Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Compose and frame camera shots, applying light, lenses and camera settings as directed.
• Adjust camera positions and controls to change focus, exposure and lighting as requested by the director.
• Operate studio cameras during live broadcasts.
• Operate remote cameras during live broadcasts.
• Confer with directors and crew on sequences, effects, camera movements and lighting requirements.
• Set up cameras and related equipment.
• Test, clean, maintain and repair camera equipment.
• Produce graphics for the newscast.
• Create graphics for the newscast.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Production Assistant is responsible for various television production duties required to record scenes for live and recorded broadcasts.

• Composes and frames camera shots, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses and camera settings to achieve the effects sought by directors
• Adjusts positions and controls of cameras to change focus, exposure and lighting as requested by the director
• Operates studio cameras during live broadcasts
• Operates remote cameras during live broadcasts
• Confers with directors and other crew members to discuss sequences, desired effects, camera movements and lighting requirements
• Sets up cameras and related equipment
• Tests, cleans, maintains and repairs camera equipment
• Produces graphics for newscast
• Creates graphics for the newscast
• Performs other duties as assigned
