Job summary

Eaton Corporation in Santa Ana, CA is seeking a Production Assembler for the 3rd shift. The role runs 10:00 pm to 5:00 am with a 32.5-hour week and a $3/hour shift premium. Base hourly rate is $24.75.

The assembler will build sub-assemblies and assemblies for Power Distribution Units and Transformers, following SOPs and performing wiring, inspection, and calibration tasks as required.

  • Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Build sub-assemblies and final assemblies per customer specs.
  • Perform visual inspections of material before and after assembly.
  • Operate tools and fixtures to assemble, adjust, or repair products.
  • Perform point-to-point wiring on Power Distribution Units.
  • Ensure quality and comply with EH&S rules.

Job description

Production Assembler – 3rd Shift

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Production Assembler – 3rd Shift.

Hours: 10:00 pm – 5:00 am. 32.5-hour work week with a $3/hour shift premium. 30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Hourly rate: $24.75 per hour.

What you’ll do:

The Assembler will timely and accurately build sub-assemblies and assemblies to customer specifications involving complex and repetitive wiring and mechanics for Power Distribution Units (PDU), and Transformers.

  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to build sub-assemblies and assemblies
  • Use cranes to pick up, and move transformers and materials
  • Be responsible for visual inspections of material before and after assembly
  • Use various fixtures, gauges, hand tools and power tools to assemble, adjust, or repair product
  • Perform point to point wiring during the assembling of Power Distribution Units
  • Work with sheet metal to build transformer legs and additional components related to transformer assembly
  • Ability to operate oven and VPI tanks as part of the assembly process.
  • Inspect completed assemblies to ensure compliance with quality standards and make necessary adjustments when required in order to meet quality goals
  • Adhere to company, environmental, health, safety rules and regulations
  • Provide process and safety improvement ideas
  • Ensure machines and tools are properly calibrated and perform housekeeping duties as necessary using the principles of 5S+
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and in the future
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of the work location will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation
Preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution
  • Experience in production, packaging or construction
  • Previous experience with standard operating procedures
  • Previous experience with product electrical assembly, maintenance and/or repair
  • Basic working knowledge and experience with computers
Skills:
  • Ability to demonstrate working knowledge of the mechanical, electrical, and safety procedures of a manufacturing facility
  • Ability to read and interpret standard operating procedures, wiring diagrams and bills of material
  • Ability to work daily and/or weekend overtime, willingness to flex/train in different areas as needed
  • Ability to lift, push and pull 40 lbs
  • Ability to use a crane once fully trained to lift items
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting is inherent to this position
  • Ability to use hand tools and other machines to manipulate metal and or wire
