Job summary

Sonoco in Columbus, OH is seeking a Production and Maintenance Technician to support plant production goals. You will report to the supervisor and operate, troubleshoot, and perform preventative maintenance on production equipment to ensure safety and quality standards.

This full-time, on-site role requires lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for long periods, and rotating day/night 12-hour shifts with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds repeatedly throughout a shift.
• Manual dexterity and good hand-eye coordination.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

• Replenishes supplies and tooling for the area.
• Keeps records and accesses information from the computer.
• Performs clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties.
• Reviews SOPs and control plans; initiates and follows SOPs.

Position: Production and Maintenance Technician

Location: Columbus, OH

Shift: 4/4 Must be open to day and night shift depending on crew

Salary: $33.10/hour; shift differential: .50/day shift and .75/night shift

While reporting to the Supervisor, you will perform tasks and provide services to support the plant's production goals, overall business plans and objectives as directed.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Complies with established job safety practices, policies and procedures as specified in plant and corporate directives for the safe performance of the work assignment.
• Supports and follows the guidelines of the food safety system.
• Performs duties as required to insure compliance with the plant's quality standards.
• Leads personnel in the on-floor efforts for the operation and maintenance of production equipment.
• Performs various manual or mechanical production functions by operating, adjusting, and repairing the production equipment to meet customer specifications.
• Evaluates and determines specific areas to be addressed during routine maintenance scheduled downtimes.
• Disassembles, overhauls, and rebuilds production equipment.
• Performs troubleshooting on production equipment as required.
• Performs preventative maintenance on production equipment as required.
• Performs on-the-job training and development of assigned personnel.
• Conducts inspection of in-process materials and in-process and finished product.
• Responsible for replenishing supplies, materials, parts, and tooling required for assigned area.
• Performs record keeping duties as required under the direction of management.
• Accesses, inputs, and retrieves information from the computer.
• Communicates pertinent information to next
• Performs clean-up, painting, and housekeeping duties.
• Reviews SOPs and control plans relevant to their area on a regular basis.
• Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
