Job description

Founded in 1936 by the Zaugg family in Rohrbach, Switzerland, our company is rooted in Europe’s long tradition of fine wood craftsmanship. Today, Stephan and Martin Zaugg proudly lead the business as third‑generation stewards of this legacy.

ZAUGG Timber Solutions (ZTS), our North American affiliate, entered the U.S. market in 2021 with the country’s first multifamily modular mass timber prototype. In 2026, ZTS will establish its infrastructure in Portland, Oregon and begin producing superstructures, wood elements, and modules. Later that year, ZTS will assemble its first projects in the U.S.

Job Description

The Production and Assembly Technician is responsible for the professional production, assembly, and completion of timber structures both in the workshop and on construction sites. This role ensures that all work is completed with precision, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards, in accordance with technical drawings and work preparation specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read, understand, and execute work based on 2D and 3D plans
  • Prepare work processes and maintain tools and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with team leaders, site managers, and production managers
  • Load, secure, and unload vehicles and other transport equipment
  • Build frame constructions and timber elements according to production plans
  • Perform quality control on manufactured components
  • Install planking and insulation for wall, ceiling, and roof elements in prefabrication
  • Assemble steel components, structures, and fasteners with precision
  • Attach elements and components to lifting equipment
  • Move, assemble, and secure elements according to assembly plans
  • Create airtight joints and connections

  • Support safe construction site setup and organization

To build the same family‑oriented culture, quality standards, and efficiency we are known for in Switzerland, ZTS offers American employees the opportunity to train in Switzerland for 6–12 months. This immersive experience focuses on developing the technical skills and expertise needed to succeed in our specialized approach to mass timber construction.
