Job summary

Viget in Boulder, CO is seeking Design Interns for a 10-week summer program. You’ll work across disciplines, join client meetings, and contribute to internal Viget initiatives while an assigned Advisor tracks your progress.

You’ll experience the full design process—from research to UI design—across Viget’s client projects, with emphasis on a strong portfolio and collaborative work. You must have permanent US work authorization.

Qualifications

• Experience in mobile app design, web design, or digital product design and a compelling portfolio.
• Familiar with design tools like Figma or Sketch or able to quickly learn them.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all aspects of the design process including research, discovery, exploration, prototyping, and UI design.
• Attend client meetings and contribute to presentations and consulting activities.
• Collaborate with Viget teams and advisers to advance personal learning goals and project outcomes.

At Viget, we help clients concept, design, and launch compelling digital products. As an intern, you’ll experience key aspects of building a product by collaborating across discipline teams. You’ll join client meetings to experience presentations and consulting firsthand. You’ll get exposure to client work and have the opportunity to contribute to internal Viget initiatives. You’ll also meet regularly with your dedicated Advisor to discuss your progress on personalized learning goals.

As one of our Design Interns, you’ll spend your summer working as part of Viget’s award-winning design team. You’ll participate in all aspects of the design process with Viget’s clients including research, discovery, exploration, prototyping, and UI design.

The Basics

• The internship is offered at our office in downtown Boulder, CO.
• The internship lasts 10 weeks, from June 7 to August 13. Viget is closed on June 18th and July 5th.
• Interns are expected to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday (usually 9-5, but we can be somewhat flexible).

Benefits

• We offer a $6,000/summer stipend, paid monthly on a pro rata basis. Course credit is also an option.

• We offer several opportunities to connect with coworkers each week, both in-person and virtually, including our weekly all-hands meeting.
• You’ll experience Viget at its most vigorous by participating in summer activities, challenges, hang-outs, etc.

Our Interns

• Have the permanent, legal right to work in the US. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship for any type of employment visa, including F-1 (OPT/CPT), H-1B, TN, O-1, or any other temporary or student-based work authorization.
• Are currently enrolled in college. We will review first-year graduate students and first or second year college students, but preference will be given to juniors and seniors in college.
• Have a track record of hard work and success. Examples could be effectively balancing school and work, holding leadership positions in various activities, or high academic achievement.
• Get things done. We look for students who like responsibility, see things through, and take pride in a job well done.
• Are strong communicators and effective collaborators.

Our Product Design Interns

• Have experience in mobile app design, web design, or digital product design, and have a truly exceptional design portfolio to show off that work.
• Are familiar with design tools like Figma or Sketch or are confident in their ability to quickly become comfortable with these tools.
• Enjoy diving into technical details and are curious about the technologies used to build modern websites, apps, and other digital products. They’re the first among friends to know about the latest trends, methods, and tools in the web and tech industries.
• Are passionate about design, aesthetics, and usability. They have an innate sense for what makes a great digital product and likely keep a mental list of products they love and those they hate.
