Job summary

Vortex Optics in Barneveld, WI, is hiring two Product Test Engineers (entry and senior) to define, perform, and report on tests for all Vortex products. Positions are full-time, onsite, with travel for vendor and factory visits. You’ll develop test methods, author SOPs, and work with the T&E team to improve quality and efficiency.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent), testing-focused experience, and strong MS Office skills. Domestic travel 1–2 weeks yearly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant work experience.
• Internship or work experience with product testing as focus or part of duties.
• Ability to define, perform, document, analyze, and report on tests.
• Ability to collaborate with T&E team members and cross-functionally with internal customers.
• Ability to work and solve problems independently.
• Ability to handle and use firearms safely and comfortably.
• Ability to use MS Office Suite proficiently – Excel and PowerPoint critical.

Responsibilities

• Execute test methods on products to evaluate performance and develop new methods as needed.
• Gather and analyze test data to characterize product performance.
• Generate clear, well-organized test reports documenting procedures and results.
• Communicate test results clearly with internal customers.
• Develop, maintain, and refine SOPs, Work Instructions, and Data Sheets.
• Improve test methods for efficiency, accuracy, and data quality.
• Collaborate with T&E and NPD engineers to develop new test methods.
• Provide feedback on equipment, test methods, and team growth.
• Pursue personal development for the team and company.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
