Job description

Derekhpath is seeking a Product Technical Architect on behalf of a confidential, venture-backed company in the Bay Area.

This role is a strong fit for an architect who enjoys the technical side of design, documentation, permitting, product improvement, and cross-functional coordination. The company is building a repeatable physical product at scale, so this is not a traditional one-off project role.

The Product Technical Architect will help maintain, improve, and coordinate the documentation systems that support the company’s core product. As a Product Technical Architect, you'll be working closely with Architecture, Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Operations, and field teams to keep drawings, details, materials, and technical documentation accurate as the product evolves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain architectural plans, specifications, details, and technical documentation for a repeatable building product.
  • Support permitting and approval processes, including documentation updates, revisions, and coordination with internal teams.
  • Maintain and update Revit documentation, Field Installation Drawings, Field Kits, and related technical drawing packages.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Operations, and field teams on documentation updates, material changes, RFIs, and installation questions.
  • Support product improvement and cost reduction efforts through vendor coordination, quote review, sample review, shop drawing review, internal design reviews, procurement coordination, and documentation updates.
  • Coordinate documentation across Revit, Onshape, BOMs, non-modeled material lists, part numbers, and procurement data.
  • Respond to RFIs and update drawings, Field Installation Drawings, and Field Kits as needed to resolve manufacturing or field installation issues.
  • Work directly with Procurement to review purchase orders, part numbers, materials, and updated documentation for upcoming builds.
  • Coordinate with Structural and MEP teams when product changes require updates or feedback from those disciplines.
What We’re Looking For
  • 7+ years of building architecture, including design, permitting, documentation, and construction coordination.
  • Master’s degree in Architecture or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM 360, Bluebeam, and similar architecture/documentation tools.
  • Experience producing or maintaining permit sets, construction documents, architectural details, specifications, and drawing packages.
  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, manufacturing, operations, field teams, and contractors.
  • Interest in modular, prefab, productized, offsite, or repeatable building methods.
  • Willingness to learn new delivery methods, software platforms, documentation systems, and internal workflows.
  • Onsite construction, field coordination, or production support experience is a plus.
  • Ability to visit a Northern California manufacturing facility as needed.
Why This Role

This is a good opportunity for an architect who wants to stay close to how technical design decisions actually get built, revised, and improved over time.

Instead of only producing drawings and moving to the next project, this role stays connected to the product as it changes. The work is focused on improving documentation, coordination, material information, field installation details, and the systems behind repeatable execution.

The company offers a competitive salary, equity, medical/dental/vision benefits, and the opportunity to join a team working on a complex physical product with real construction, manufacturing, and field execution behind it.
