Job description

We are seeking a Technical Architect with a strong foundation in building systems, construction methodologies, and architectural detailing. You’ll play a pivotal role in turning design concepts into fully resolved, constructible solutions—balancing technical excellence with thoughtful design execution.

As a leader in both documentation and collaboration, you’ll work closely with project managers and junior staff to guide projects through design development and construction documentation phases. This is a hands‑on, technically focused role ideal for someone who enjoys being a problem solver, mentor, and detail‑oriented architect. This role can expand into opportunities for project management depending on project opportunities and your skills and interests.

What You Bring

The successful candidate will have the following attributes:

  • A “can‑do” mindset with the curiosity and the self‑motivation to seek out whatever knowledge and understanding stands between you and design solutions
  • A “results‑focused”, efficient, and methodical approach to solving complex design challenges
  • Deep knowledge of construction materials, assemblies, building systems and building science
  • Strong understanding of Building Codes and the ability to document code compliance
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to get a diverse group of stakeholders aligned around solutions
  • Proficiency in both 2D documentation and 3D (BIM) modeling workflows, and an interest in keeping up to date with current design tools
  • A keen design sensibility and ability to carry forward established design concepts with technical precision
What You’ll Do
  • Lead design and technical development on a wide range of projects—from schematic design through construction documents
  • Collaborate with project managers or serve as either of a PM and a PA, depending on project scope and your skillset
  • Mentor junior team members, including interior designers and architects, in technical problem‑solving
  • Provide internal quality control reviews to ensure design intent, constructability, and code compliance
  • Drive coordination across disciplines to resolve technical issues and achieve project goals
  • Produce and oversee detailed, high‑quality documentation using both 2D drafting and 3D BIM modeling tools
Qualifications
  • Professional degree in Architecture (or equivalent experience as defined by the California Architects Board)
  • 8+ years of architectural design and documentation experience

Salary Range: $95 – $145K per year (dependent on your skillset, depth of knowledge, and level of experience)
