Job summary

Hawthorne Cat, located in San Diego, California, is seeking a Product Support Sales Representative to grow parts and service sales for Caterpillar Earthmoving equipment within the territory. Build relationships with customers and keep them informed of ongoing services and promotions.

Utilize a consultative approach to identify improvements and implement solutions, developing business opportunities, providing quotes, and closing sales while forecasting growth.

Qualifications

• Preferred minimum of five years in a product support environment or related industry with experience in customer service.
• Must have ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing.
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills.
• Must have a positive attitude and be a self-starter.
• Must be organized and a good planner.
• Ability to set and meet goals.

Responsibilities

• Extensive knowledge of customers and territory to forecast growth potential and identify needs.
• Introduce Hawthorne's parts and service capabilities to customers and market offerings.
• Devise, forecast and create a business plan for territory or customers.
• Make routine sales calls and provide timely, accurate proposals for parts and service.
• Assist customers in selecting programs that maximize equipment life cycle.
• Build competitive intelligence by analyzing competitive activity in territory.
• Coordinate between customers and departments to provide best possible service.
• Maintain customer contact information, sales reports, and call planners.
• Measure and perform on annual growth targets for territory with book of business understanding.
• Perform any job assigned to meet company, department or individual goals.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Influence sales of parts and service of Caterpillar Earthmoving and other related products throughout the territory. Build relationships with customers and keep them informed of ongoing services and specials. Through consultative action, partner with our customers to identify improvements and implement solutions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Prospect and develop assigned accounts and provide parts and service to meet customer needs.
2. Develop business opportunities for all assigned accounts, provide quotes and close sales.
3. Extensive knowledge of customers and territory (including financial status and past sales volume) enough to forecast growth potential, select target accounts, and identify need for alternative solutions.
4. Introduction of Hawthornes parts and service capabilities to all customers and effectively market/communicate offerings and campaigns that position Hawthorneas the clear Product Support choice.
5. Devise, forecast and create a business plan for assigned territory or customers.
6. Makes routine sales calls on customers in assigned markets and provide timely and accurate proposals for parts and service.
7. Assist customers in selection of programs that will insure maximum life cycle of their equipment.
8. Build competitive intelligence: Collect, analyze, and evaluate competitive activity in your assigned territory.
9. Provide coordination between customers and said departments to provide best possible service.
10. Maintain customer contact information, sales call reports and weekly call planners.
11. Able to measure and perform on annual growth targets for assigned territory with a deep understanding of book of business.
12. Perform any job that may be assigned as necessary to meet the company, department or individual goals and objectives.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

9. Sitting: Sits at desk. Sits for long periods of time.
10. Climbing: Climb on and off earthmoving machines/engines.
11. Crawling: In, around and under machinery.

ENVIRONMENTAL:

1. Noise: Works in conditions with constant or intermittent noise.
2. Temp/Weather: Works in both office and outdoor environment.
