Qualifications

Job description

Position Overview

The Product Support Engineer is a key customer-facing role responsible for providing post-sale instrumentation support within an assigned region for BNSM. The engineer maintains instruments at peak performance through installation, diagnostics, and ongoing support, while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide “Best in Class” post-sale support and drive continuous improvement of the BNSM customer experience.
  • Execute current processes, procedures, and controls while identifying and recommending improvement opportunities.
  • Demonstrate high-level technical understanding and system-level perspective; experience with semi-metrology techniques, including hands‑on work.
  • Provide remote technical support to field service engineers.
  • Manage service tickets and report service events in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with materials group to ensure timely shipping and correct inventory levels of spare parts at each region or customer location.
  • Write and/or modify technical procedures, service bulletins, and related documentation.
  • Interface with customers focusing on satisfaction via email, phone, and/or onsite visits.
  • Provide training to field service engineers, applications engineers, and customers.
  • Assist service personnel with on‑site installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of semiconductor equipment worldwide as needed.
  • Manage customer equipment events from initial notification to closure.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and ensure proper tracking and reporting of consumed parts.
  • Document failures through RMR failure analysis and corrective action systems.
  • Document all pertinent data and service events using SFDC reporting system.
  • Provide on‑site technical support to field service worldwide on short notice.
  • Participate in “Out of Box” quality processes to address issues and improve setup, testing, acceptance criteria, specifications, and documentation.
  • Participate in product life‑cycle planning to optimize serviceability from product inception to end of support.
  • Support cross‑functional partners within the business unit to deliver quality products.
  • Perform other duties as requested.
Additional Requirements
  • Domestic and international travel as required; extensive travel may be required.
  • Occasional evening, off‑shift, and weekend work may be required.
Environmental Requirements
  • Office, Class 1000 Cleanroom protocols (hair net, smock, shoe covers, latex or nitrile gloves).
Qualifications
  • US citizenship or permanent residence required.
  • Experience with cryogenic cleaning, mask handling, and semiconductor equipment support.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate in a fluid environment with changing requirements and priorities.
  • Ability to provide objective input that assists in reviewing potential changes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), Microsoft Project, and SharePoint.
  • Sub‑assembly to system‑level experience in electronics, mechanical, and integration.
  • Testing and test‑plan writing, execution, and performance experience.
  • Detail‑oriented and disciplined management and meeting skills.
Educational/Experience Requirements
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or Science.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in an applications role or as a manufacturing, assembly, or system‑level technician for technology organizations in semiconductor, aerospace, defense, or electronic communications.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base salary range: $76,500 – $137,000, based on education, training, experience, location, skills, competencies, and travel requirements.
  • Performance‑related incentive may be available.
