Job summary

Vistra, Irving, Texas, is seeking a senior role in product development within the Energy Transition Solutions team. You will own concepts from ideation to market launch, leveraging distributed energy resources and partnerships to create new products and services for customers and the grid.

You will collaborate across marketing, technology, operations, and finance, leading cross-functional efforts and delivering revenue-driving programs while optimizing go-to-market strategies and vendor

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in retail-focused product development, offer/channel strategy, or marketing.
  • 3+ years with financial modeling or customer margin analysis.
  • Experience with energy or alternative energy products (solar, battery, EVs, VPPs, DR) is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel-based modeling; SAS/Tableau and CRM tools knowledge beneficial.

Overview:

To win the customer of the future, our Energy Transition Solutions team creates the strategy and builds the products that turn today's emerging energy technologies into real solutions

In this role, you'll leverage Distributed Energy Resources - EVs, home solar, whole-home batteries, and more - to create products, programs, and services that unlock new value for consumers and strengthen the grid

You'll own concepts from whiteboard to market launch: ideation, economic modeling, vendor partnerships and operational rollout of new products from virtual power plants to electricity commodity plans

It's a hands-on role that mixes analysis, creative problem solving, and day-to-day execution. You'll collaborate across marketing, technology, operations and finance plus a diverse set of vendors from technology providers to global device manufacturers

Responsibilities
  • Leverage analytical and financial analysis skills to assess the commercial viability of potential offerings and recommend program designs that meet necessary financial metrics (margin, sales, ROI, etc.)
  • Transform complex energy ideas to simple, easy to understand customer offerings
  • Generate new concepts through proven ideation methodologies and opportunistic thinking
  • Understand your target audience, analyze research insights & trends, identify opportunities, and ultimately propose & deliver products/programs/partnerships
  • Lead the implementation of new products through ideation, program design, and market launch which will require working with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Manage key product verticals and support product optimization (product design, marketing and sales tactics/strategy) to achieve sales goals for new products
  • External partner relationship cultivation and management to define new programs & business models, negotiate commercial agreements, and define & execute the go-to-market workplan
Requirements
  • 5+ years work experience in retail-focused product development, offer/channel strategy, marketing or related function
  • 3+ years with financial modeling or customer margin analysis (related to above)
  • Experience with energy or alternative energy products (solar, battery, EVs, VPPs, Demand Response) strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in excel based modeling required, SAS/Tableau experience beneficial; willingness and ability to learn new systems as required (e.g., CRM tools)
  • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to above skills
  • Requires strong sense of self-motivation, thrives under minimal supervision, excels at solving complex problems and enjoys working around obstacles
  • Extensive communication and teamwork skills to work effectively with both internal and external customers (e.g., vendors, Marketing, Sales, IT, Legal, Operations, Finance)
  • Demonstrate a high level of curiosity, a capacity for learning, and an aptitude for problem solving
  • Able to effectively contribute to and/or lead small work groups

  • Hit target goals for product launches, pilots and tests
  • Plan, lead and launch key initiatives in a matrixed environment
  • Realize product targets for sales velocity, retention, and/or profitability
  • Achieve product / partner targets for customer satisfaction, complaints, incidents and escalations
