Base pay range

$100,000.00/yr - $145,000.00/yr

Do you want to join a strong team of product stewardship professionals & have the ability to work a hybrid schedule? Do you live locally to Newark or are open to relocating? We are currently partnered up with a large Chemical Manufacturing Company in their search to have a Product Stewardship Specialist to join their team of 10 Regulatory Affairs/EHS/Product Stewardship professionals. This role will report up into the Product Steward Lead and will have the ability to work a hybrid schedule. The ideal candidate will have 5-15+ years of experience in the chemical manufacturing industry, held the product stewardship title before/currently, and will ideally have a chemical engineering degree. Description

The Product Stewardship Specialist - Chemical Manufacturing will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure chemical products comply with applicable regulations (e.g., REACH, TSCA, GHS, CLP, OSHA, FIFRA).
  • Author and review Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product labels, and technical documents.
  • Manage and maintain chemical registrations, notifications, and dossiers across global market.
  • Conduct product risk assessments including hazard identification, exposure analysis, and use scenarios.
  • Provide guidance on safe handling, use, and disposal.
  • Evaluate and approve raw materials and formulations from a product safety perspective.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for customer inquiries related to product safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability.
  • Support customers with product documentation and compliance requests (e.g., SVHC, RoHS, Prop 65).
  • Collaborate with suppliers to ensure upstream compliance and transparency.
  • Drive product stewardship initiatives to promote safer alternatives, lifecycle thinking, and circular economy practices.
  • Participate in green chemistry, sustainability, and safer product innovation projects.
  • Support development of internal policies, training, and best practices for product stewardship.
  • Work closely with R&D, Regulatory, EHS, Legal, Sales, and Marketing teams.
  • Provide input during new product development to ensure safety and regulatory compliance from concept to launch.
  • Monitor emerging global regulatory trends and assess potential impact on product portfolio.

Profile

The ideal Product Stewardship Specialist - Chemical Manufacturing will have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • 5 to 15 years of relevant experience in product stewardship, regulatory affairs, or chemical safety in the chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of global chemical regulations and hazard communication standards.
  • Proficient in SDS authoring tools and regulatory databases (e.g., IUCLID, ECHA, EPA databases).
  • Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate complex regulations into practical product compliance strategies.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset and a collaborative approach.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., DABT, CHMM, ISO 14001 auditor) are a plus.
  • Experience with software tools like SAP EHS, WERCS, or similar.
  • Prior experience engaging with regulatory bodies or industry working groups.

Job Offer

The successful Product Stewardship Specialist - Chemical Manufacturing will be rewarded with the following:

  • Base Salary of $100,000-$145,000 depending on experience
  • Bonus of 10%
  • Relocation Package Provided
  • PTO
  • 401K Match
