Job description

Mativ has an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead Product Stewardship and Compliance within our global EHS team for Mativ’s Sustainable and Adhesive Solutions business segment (SAS).

The Product Steward will be responsible for approving all raw materials used in SAS products, managing databases and reporting on raw material chemical safety information, supplier technical data, and other product safety, stewardship, and regulatory compliance information.

This role involves collaboration with R&D, customers, sales & marketing, and peers within Mativ, reporting directly to the Global EHS Leader. The incumbent should apply scientific expertise, demonstrate initiative, and work independently, maintaining and enhancing knowledge of raw materials, products, and regulatory systems through continuing education.

Responsibilities:
  1. Contribute to and improve strategies in product safety, regulation, and stewardship to meet legal and marketplace requirements.
  2. Manage raw material and product design parameters, working closely with R&D during product development, and serve as the lead for raw material approval processes.
  3. Develop and maintain a regulatory due diligence database for rapid information retrieval and support internal/external stakeholders.
  4. Respond to technical, compliance, and safety inquiries, escalating issues as needed.
  5. Support safety evaluations and hazard assessments of ingredients and raw materials, addressing technical and regulatory concerns.
  6. Manage third-party evaluations, certifications, and interpret results for risk mitigation.
  7. Oversee SDS generation and revision for finished and in-process products.
  8. Engage with suppliers and laboratories to obtain disclosures, certifications, and data for safety and regulatory compliance, managing key relationships with strategic suppliers.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific or technical field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience managing product regulatory and stewardship issues in manufacturing.
  • Deep knowledge of global regulatory requirements (REACH, RoHS, TSCA, Prop 65, GHS).
  • Experience with data management platforms and responding to product stewardship inquiries.
  • Preferred experience with RSSs, RSLs, and eco-labeling compliance.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
