Qualifications

About the Role

We are seeking a Product Specialist to bridge deep electric utility-domain expertise with product development and customer delivery. This role sits within the Product organization and is designed for someone with firsthand experience in utility planning, particularly transmission planning, interconnection studies, integrated resource planning (IRP), integrated system planning (ISP), capacity, flexibility planning, and related power system workflows, who can help translate complex customer needs into scalable AI-driven solutions. You will work cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, and Sales teams to support pre-sales discovery, customer workshops and demos, post-sales implementation, and ongoing product refinement. This is a highly customer-facing role that combines domain expertise, solutioning, and product collaboration to ensure our technology aligns with how utilities plan and operate the grid.

What You’ll Do

• Serve as a domain expert for utility planning workflows, including transmission planning, interconnection studies and queue processes, integrated resource planning (IRP), integrated system planning (ISP), capacity and resource adequacy planning, flexibility and reliability planning, renewable and storage integration studies, congestion and transfer capability analysis, long-range grid planning
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to translate customer workflows, pain points, and operational requirements into product capabilities and roadmap inputs
• Support pre-sales engagements by participating in technical discovery sessions, customer workshops, solution scoping, and product demonstrations
• Help customers understand how AI-enabled workflows can integrate into existing utility planning and operational processes
• Support post-sales implementation and delivery activities, ensuring customer requirements are clearly understood and operationalized
• Collaborate with customers to validate outputs, refine workflows, and ensure successful adoption of product capabilities
• Provide structured feedback from customers to influence product strategy, UX, feature prioritization, and delivery approaches
• Assist with creation of customer-facing artifacts including workflow diagrams, use cases, requirements documentation, and implementation plans
• Act as a trusted advisor to utility customers, bringing credibility through firsthand domain expertise and operational understanding.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in utility planning, or energy consulting
• Deep familiarity with utility planning workflows such as transmission planning, interconnection studies, flexibility planning, capacity expansion, production cost modeling, resource adequacy, ISP and IRP
• Familiarity with NERC reliability frameworks, FERC planning processes, and interconnection-related planning requirements
• Experience working with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, or transmission organizations
• Ability to communicate effectively across technical, operational, and executive stakeholders
• Customer-facing experience, including workshops, technical presentations, implementations, or consulting engagements
• Strong systems thinking and ability to connect customer problems to scalable software solutions
• Comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup environment with evolving priorities
• Collaborative mindset with ability to work cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, and Sales teams.

Nice to Have

• Experience with power flow studies, interconnection queues, transmission expansion planning and production cost modeling
• Familiarity with utility software ecosystems and planning tools (e.g., PSS/E, PSLF, TARA, PROMOD, PLEXOS, MAPS, Aurora, ASPEN etc.)
• Exposure to AI/ML applications in power systems or grid operations
• Experience supporting enterprise software deployments or SaaS implementations
• Familiarity with Agile product development environments and tools such as Jira.
