As a Product Safety Specialist, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our consumer products meet the highest standards of safety and sustainability - positively impacting the lives of people around the world. You’ll be part of the Global General Product Safety team, based from our manufacturing site at Springvale conducting safety, chemical, and material assessments to support the development of safe, compliant, and innovative products.
We’re looking for someone with a few years of relevant experience, a curious mindset, and a flexible, self-driven approach. You thrive in a fast-paced, global, cross-functional environment and bring energy, initiative, and a results-focused mindset to everything you do.
Ideally, you’re comfortable navigating complex matrix organizations and adaptable to changing business needs. In return, this role supports flexible work practices and offers an exciting opportunity to grow and develop in the evolving field of product safety.
Perform product safety assessments on products and materials and communicate the results within relevant parts of the organization and external suppliers.
The assigned product areas are e.g. baby diapers, feminine towels and liners, tampons, menstrual cups, incontinence products.
Perform risk assessments of impact of relevant production process on product safety.
Provide product safety guidance for our cross-functional projects to ensure safe, compliant and environmentally sound products.
Act as an active project member in strategic and operational projects and activities.
Build an updated competence and knowledge regarding product safety, toxicology and compliance and spread the knowledge within Essity.
Ideally, you bring 2–3 years of experience in a relevant field. Experience working in a global, cross-functional environment will be looked upon favorably. You will also bring:
M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, preferably with a master's in Materials Chemistry (or equivalent)
Experience in relevant product safety field and knowledge in chemistry and material science
Qualification or background in Toxicology (preferred)
Fluency in English, both written and oral
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
A curious mindset and flexible personality
Ability to navigate a fast-paced, complex matrix organization
Drive for delivering valuable results and a focus on continuous improvement
Flexibility to work across global time zones when required, to support international collaboration and project timelines.
