Job summary

MAPEI Corporation is recruiting a Product Safety Representative to ensure U.S.-produced materials meet product safety, labeling, transportation, and chemical regulatory requirements. The role supports SDS updates, regulatory filings, and cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Marketing, and Global Product Safety teams.

The candidate will evaluate raw materials, manage hazard classifications, and stay current on OSHA/TSCA/Prop 65 regulations, while contributing to product launches and ensuring

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology or related chemical field required.
• 3+ years in Product Safety/Regulatory within chemical industry preferred.
• Experience with SDS, hazard classification, labeling, and chemical regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of Canadian DSL/NDSL rules is a plus; experience in English-language SDS labeling.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint on Windows.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and labeling per U.S. regulations.
• Support product compliance with OSHA, TSCA, Prop 65, Right-to-Know, and related laws.
• Evaluate materials and formulas for hazard classifications and HMIS ratings.
• Monitor regulatory changes and update documentation and product declarations.
• Prepare regulatory filings and support product approvals for U.S. and international markets.
• Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, and Global Product Safety on labeling and launches.
• Adhere to all regulations, policies, and safety procedures.

Job Description

Join MAPEI Corporation, a global leader in the manufacturing of construction chemicals and building materials, including adhesives, sealants, and specialty products used in flooring, tile, and concrete restoration. We are currently hiring for a Product Safety Representative to join our Research and Development team. The Product Safety Representative – Chemicals ensures that MAPEI’s U.S.-produced materials meet all applicable product safety, labeling, transportation, and chemical regulatory requirements. This role plays a critical part in maintaining SDS and labeling accuracy, supporting new product development, and ensuring compliance with domestic and international regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), warning labels, and transport classifications per U.S. regulations.
• Support product compliance with federal and state chemical safety laws (OSHA, TSCA, Prop 65, Right-to-Know, etc.).
• Evaluate raw materials and new formulas for hazard classifications, HMIS ratings, and labeling needs.
• Monitor regulatory changes and ensure timely updates to documentation and product declarations.
• Prepare regulatory filings and support product approvals for U.S. and international markets.
• Collaborate with R&D, Marketing, and Global Product Safety teams on labeling, compliance, and new product launches.
• Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, safety rules and instructions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirement of BS or higher in Chemistry, Industrial Hygiene, Toxicology or other Chemical
• Prefer three or more years of experience in Product Safety/Regulatory, ideally within a chemical company, and with hands-on experience in areas such as SDS, hazard classification, labelling, and chemical regulatory compliance.
• Experience in MSDS and warning label authoring
• Experience with the use of Chem Advisor database and MSDS Authoring software, preferred, not required.
• Working knowledge of all applicable Canadian Regulatory codes and practices including DSL and NDSL rules and regulation, preferred, not required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint within a Windows environment.
