OmniOn Power is seeking a senior Product Safety Compliance Engineer to join our safety team in Plano, TX. The role focuses on electronic DC converters and battery backup systems for telecom and data centers, supporting NPI and EC processes.

You will evaluate compliance to US and international safety standards, develop test plans, oversee electrical/thermal tests, and file formal reports to UL, CSA, TUV, and VDE.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Experience with IEC 62368 safety standards for IT equipment.
  • Familiar with ISO-17025 lab accreditation.
  • Experience with power supplies, test equipment and data logging instruments.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word.
  • Experience with safety test reporting and submittals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop product safety test strategies for power supplies and battery backup systems.
  • Review prototypes for safety compliance and provide design feedback.
  • Create detailed test plans in collaboration with agencies and engineers.
  • Oversee lab testing and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Document non-conformances and assist in root-cause analysis.
  • Prepare safety submittals to UL, CSA, TUV, and VDE.
  • Ensure Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements are followed.

OmniOn Power is seeking a senior engineer to join our product safety compliance team. The position focuses on electronic dc converters and battery backup systems used in the telecom and data centers markets. This position will support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change (EC) processes. This role consists of evaluating product compliance to US and international safety standards, developing detailed test plans, providing oversight of electrical and thermal tests, and submitting formal test reports to safety agencies such as UL, CSA, TUV, and VDE.

This role will report to the Production Qualification Manager and is located at the OmniOn Power HQ in Plano, TX

Essential Responsibilities
  • Develop product safety test strategies for power supplies and battery backup systems
  • Perform construction reviews of early prototypes with respect to safety standards and provide feedback to electrical and mechanical designers
  • Create detailed test plans for power conversion products by collaborating with Safety Agencies, Designers, Component Engineers, and Safety Technicians
  • Provide technicians with detailed instructions on test plans and execution and track results in the QATrax lab information system
  • Provide oversite of laboratory testing with rigorous adherence to agency standards
  • Review test data and determine product conformance with respect to the appropriate safety standards
  • Document non-compliance findings in the FRACAS (Failure Reporting Analysis Corrective Action System)
  • Assist engineering teams to interpret and duplicate non-conformances
  • Create safety submittal reports in accordance with rigorous agency standards
  • Follow all Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering
  • Experience with product safety standards such as IEC 62368 for IT and Communications equipment
  • Familiar with lab accreditation and ISO-17025
  • Experience with power supplies, oscilloscopes, digital volt meters, power analyzers, and data logging instruments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft EXCEL and WORD
  • Experience with power supply testing
Desired Characteristics
  • Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Ability to interpret technical requirements as they apply to power conversion devices to determine whether documented requirements and standards are met
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC sources, electronics loads and thermal chambers
  • Experience with Microsoft MACROs, MS Visual Studio and other lab automation software
  • Ability to efficiently manage time and coordinate priorities with multiple project teams
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work in United States
