CNO Financial Group is hiring a Product Owner who will be responsible for real-time decision-making, defining and prioritizing the product backlog, setting delivery quality standards, and maximizing the value of the product or system functionality from both a business and user perspective. The PO leads the Agile Development Team by translating the product vision into features by elaborating user stories and creating diagrams and models.
The PO leads Agile teams through the definition of functional requirements, sprint planning and execution, roadblock removal, and strategic communication. They act as the primary communicator and link between stakeholders and development teams, helping to define the minimum viable product (MVP) and make tradeoff decisions when priorities conflict, ensuring alignment with business direction and the overall product roadmap.
As a Product Owner , your responsibilities will include:
Providing vision and direction to the Agile development team and stakeholders and creates requirements for part of the process/system design owned.
Planning and prioritizing product feature backlog and development for the product/system of multiple development teams.
Ensuring that the Product Backlog is visible, transparent, and clear to all, and highlights priorities and tasks for Scrum Team.
Providing backlog management leadership and decision making (financial and benefit realization accountability), iteration planning, and elaboration of the user stories.
Working closely with immediate team and stakeholders to create and maintain a product backlog according to business value or ROI.
Defining user stories, setting goals/priorities to determine the product release plans, and setting expectations for the delivery of new functionality.
Mitigating impediments that impact successful teams’ completion of release/sprint goals.
Transforming business requirements into detailed user stories and clearly defined acceptance criteria that engineers can consume.
Staying up to date with Agile best practices and new trends.
The Product Owner position is well-suited for you if you:
Have in-depth knowledge of Agile processes and principles.
Exhibit strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
Demonstrate the ability to partner with team members and stakeholders.
Possess strong user story writing skills and pay close attention to details.
Are a creative thinker with a vision.
What you’ll need:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent.
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related work experience, including product owner/management or other insurance operations industry experience.
Prior experience working on an Agile team
What will set you apart:
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) highly preferred, or the ability to achieve this certification within the first year of hire.
Prior experience with Jira
