The Opportunity

This isn’t just another feature backlog role. We are launching an ambitious new initiative to build a new product from the ground up, and we’re looking for a Product Owner who thrives on ownership, clarity, and execution. In this role, you'll be a driving force behind the strategy, design, and delivery of a new platform component while also contributing to the continuous evolution of GovPilot’s core system and mobile apps.

You’ll work cross-functionally with engineering, product, design, QA, executives, and government stakeholders to bring high-impact software to market that solves real problems for municipalities.

What You'll Do

• Own the Roadmap: Define and prioritize the product backlog for new development and platform enhancements using customer insights, market research, and internal feedback.
• Lead the SDLC: Manage the full software development lifecycle—from requirements gathering to deployment—for the new product and platform modules.
• Shape the Product Vision: Translate abstract ideas and complex local government processes into actionable product strategy.
• Define Requirements: Create detailed epics, user stories, and acceptance criteria that align technical execution with business value.
• Partner with Engineering: Collaborate with developers, designers, and QA to break down features into sprints and ensure iterative delivery.
• Maintain Documentation & Standards: Ensure consistent versioning, documentation quality, and design standards across the platform.
• Drive Project Management: Maintain project plans, timelines, OKRs, stakeholder communication, and status reporting.
• Enable Compliance & Scalability: Ensure our modules remain compliant with changing state/local regulations and scale to growing customer needs.
• Conduct Validation: Lead testing efforts, user acceptance reviews, and feedback loops to validate usability and performance.
  
  

What You Bring

• 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or Project Manager in a SaaS or enterprise software environment.
• Proven success managing end-to-end SDLC in Agile environments.
• Experience with new product development, from concept through launch.
• Strong technical fluency — able to converse effectively with engineering, understand trade-offs, and manage delivery risks.
• Effective communicator and collaborator across departments and seniority levels.
• Familiarity with project management and roadmap tools like JIRA, Figma, HubSpot, or Confluence.
• Bonus: Exposure to GovTech, civic tech, or regulatory platforms.
• Even better: Ability to translate local government processes (e.g., permitting, licensing, inspections) into intuitive, efficient software solutions.
