Job description

The Product Owner I role supports Liberty Mutual’s Enterprise Data & Data Science organization by advancing shared platforms and reusable capabilities that enable Data Scientists to build, deploy, and operate AI/ML solutions. The position works closely with product, data science, and technology stakeholders to define strategy, roadmaps, measurable outcomes, and prioritized backlogs.

Role Responsibilities

• Act as the voice of Data Scientists and other platform users by building an in-depth understanding of workflows, needs, and pain points.
• Shape product strategy and roadmaps by combining customer insights, product analytics, technology considerations, and organizational priorities.
• Create and apply product metrics and analytics to evaluate platform usage, adoption, customer experience, and improvement opportunities.
• Partner with Data Scientists, Engineers, Architects, and other stakeholders to translate user needs and product priorities into actionable capabilities and enhancements.
• Collect customer feedback and use data, product metrics, and user insights to guide prioritization and product decisions.
• Support evaluation and adoption of technologies and capabilities that improve the data science development and model lifecycle experience.
• Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, enhance user experience, and increase adoption of reusable platform capabilities and best practices.
• Develop and maintain prioritized product backlogs, including features, user stories, and acceptance criteria, aligned with delivery teams.
• Participate in quarterly planning, demos, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies to support execution and delivery.
• Communicate priorities, progress, decisions, and outcomes to stakeholders across the organization.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5+ years of Product Owner experience.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and product management practices.
• Experience working with technology teams, with level determined based on relevant experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to use data and customer insights to identify opportunities and inform decisions.
• Ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including communicating technical concepts to varied audiences.
• Curiosity and an experimental mindset, with a demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and approaches.
• Interest in data science, machine learning, AI, data platforms, or developer/platform experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with data, analytics, data science, software engineering, or technology platforms.
• Familiarity with modern data and AI technologies such as AWS, Azure, Databricks, or similar platforms.

Compensation

USD 94,000 to 174,000 per year.
