Job summary

Austin Pets Alive! (APA!) is seeking a Product Owner to lead the Data & Technology Division’s tools and integrations. You will translate executive strategy into actionable work for analysts, engineers, and volunteers, ensuring reliable, user-friendly systems across APA!’s operations.

The role emphasizes implementation, change management, and stakeholder collaboration in a fast-paced nonprofit setting. Strong communication and hands-on execution are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Experience translating ambiguous needs into clear requirements for technical teams.
• 1+ year in product owner, product manager, or related role.
• Familiarity with nonprofit or volunteer-driven environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Own the Data & Technology Division's product backlog and roadmap.
• Translate strategic priorities into executable backlogs for staff and volunteers.
• Collaborate with Data Analyst, Data Engineer, and contractors during build and rollout.
• Maintain regular stakeholder feedback loops to shape development.
• Lead change management and data governance across delivered systems.
• Coordinate with departments to ensure tools meet operational needs.
