Position Overview:

The Product Owner / Business Analyst bridges product strategy, business needs and software delivery. This role translates product priorities and customer or business problems into clear, prioritized and development-ready work.

The role owns the day-to-day relationship with Engineering, ensuring requirements are understood, business processes are clearly defined and completed functionality delivers the intended outcome.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Analysis & Requirements

• Partner with Product, Customer Success, Development and stakeholders to understand business problems, customer workflows and operational needs.
• Analyze existing processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, dependencies and opportunities for improvement.
• Translate business needs into user stories, workflows, business rules, acceptance criteria and supporting documentation.
• Identify edge cases, unanswered questions and dependencies before development begins.
• Own, prioritize and maintain the product backlog based on direction from the Head of Product & Technology
• Ensure upcoming work is clearly defined, appropriately scoped and ready for Engineering.
• Balance product functionality, defects, technical needs, customer commitments and operational improvements.
• Make timely scope and requirements decisions during development.
• Serve as the primary day-to-day product contact for Development.
• Participate in backlog refinement, sizing, sprint planning, demonstrations, retrospectives and other delivery ceremonies.
• Clarify requirements and collaborate with Engineering on technical constraints and solution tradeoffs.
• Review completed work against acceptance criteria and coordinate business acceptance when needed.

Release & Validation

• Coordinate with Development, Customer Success and stakeholders to prepare functionality for release.
• Communicate delivery status, risks, dependencies and scope changes.
• Gather post-release feedback and evaluate whether functionality achieved the intended business or customer outcome.

Key Measures of Success

• Development-ready work is consistently available ahead of Development needs.
• Requirements, workflows and business rules are clearly understood before development begins.
• Requirement ambiguity and development rework are minimized.
• Development receives timely answers and decisions.
• Completed work meets acceptance criteria and intended business outcomes.
• Risks, dependencies and scope changes are identified and communicated early.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst or similar software/SaaS role.
• Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into user stories, acceptance criteria and development-ready work.
• Demonstrated proficiency using AI tools to improve productivity, analyze information, develop requirements and accelerate day-to-day product and business analysis work.
• Strong understanding of Agile software development practices and backlog management.
• Experience analyzing and documenting business processes, workflows and business rules.
• Ability to work directly with software engineers and understand technical constraints and tradeoffs.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and make timely decisions with incomplete information.
• Experience with Jira or similar product and development management tools preferred.
• SaaS product experience preferred.
