Job description

We are looking for an experienced Product Owner to take ownership of the product roadmap and ongoing development of a growing direct-to-consumer ecommerce environment.

This role will sit at the intersection of business, technology, and ecommerce, working closely with engineering, QA, and business stakeholders to prioritize initiatives, improve the customer experience, and deliver projects from initial concept through launch.

The ideal candidate is commercially minded, technically capable, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment where priorities can evolve quickly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own and maintain the product roadmap for DTC ecommerce initiatives, aligning priorities with wider business objectives.
  • Define project timelines, milestones, and delivery expectations to keep initiatives moving efficiently.
  • Partner with other Product Owners to ensure priorities, dependencies, and product initiatives remain aligned.
  • Balance short-term business requirements with longer-term ecommerce product strategy.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
  • Act as the primary point of contact for assigned ecommerce initiatives, connecting business and technical teams.
  • Communicate project progress, priorities, risks, and changes clearly to relevant stakeholders.
  • Work with business leaders and Product Owners to establish and negotiate priorities.
  • Facilitate team ceremonies, project updates, release communications, and cross-functional meetings.
  • Build strong relationships across product, technology, ecommerce, marketing, and other business functions.
Backlog & Delivery Management
  • Own and prioritize the ecommerce product backlog, ensuring work is clearly defined and aligned with business priorities.
  • Coordinate engineering and QA workloads without direct people management responsibilities.
  • Triage incoming requests, bugs, and enhancements and determine appropriate priority.
  • Monitor progress against roadmap milestones and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify potential blockers, dependencies, and delivery risks and proactively address them.
  • Manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining a clear focus on delivery.
Requirements & Product Development
  • Gather business requirements and translate them into clear technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Guide projects and epics through the full product lifecycle, from discovery and planning through development, testing, and deployment.
  • Work closely with engineering and QA teams to ensure requirements are understood and delivered as intended.
  • Support releases and deployments, including coordinating user acceptance testing and training where required.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve the ecommerce experience and overall product functionality.
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Product Owner, ideally within ecommerce, DTC, or digital product environments.
  • Strong understanding of Shopify, with Shopify Plus experience highly desirable.
  • Hands-on understanding of Shopify themes, apps, integrations, and checkout functionality.
  • Experience working with ecommerce technology and the wider DTC ecosystem, including analytics, experimentation, personalization, and marketing platforms.
  • Strong project and product management skills, with experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, or comparable project/product management platforms.
  • Ability to translate commercial and business requirements into clear technical requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable working across both business and technical teams.
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects in a fast-moving environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Marketing, or a related discipline preferred.
