Company Description

Firebrand Technologies—a strategic part of the Firebrand Group collection of companies owned by Media Do International (MD-i)—is a software and technology services company. We’ve been helping publishers handle their internal workflows, digital distribution, and marketing efforts for more than 35 years.

Our company’s unique, community-focused approach to business creates an optimal atmosphere for innovation and success. To make this true, everyone at Firebrand Technologies rolls up their sleeves and gets their hands dirty. We embrace opportunities and challenges with enthusiasm and a collective sense of purpose.

In February 2021, Firebrand Technologies and its sister company, NetGalley LLC, were acquired by Media Do International (MD-i), the US-based subsidiary of Japan’s Media Do Co., Ltd, one of the largest ebook distribution companies in the world retaining the largest share of Japan’s $4.5 billion ebook market.

Together, Firebrand Technologies and NetGalley, LLC are 100% remote global companies with just over 100 employees.

Role Description

The Product Manager for Firebrand Technologies’ Title Management application helps define and execute the product vision for the company’s core publishing workflow platform. This role partners closely with the Product Director, internal engineering and customer-facing teams, and external publishing clients to design and deliver scalable, data-driven solutions that support title lifecycle—from acquisition through publication and beyond.

The Product Manager drives execution of the product roadmap, owning requirements definition and assisting with prioritization in order to translate industry needs and customer feedback into clear, actionable product outcomes.

Success in this role requires strong knowledge of publishing operations, advanced project management skills, a customer‑centric mindset, and the ability to balance strategic planning with hands‑on execution.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Collaborate with the Product Director to define, communicate, and execute the vision and strategy for Title Management's in alignment with company goals
  • Own and manage the Title Management backlog, prioritizing feature requests, enhancement requests, and technical work based on business value, customer impact, and development effort
  • Translate product strategy into clear, actionable requirements by writing detailed product requirements documents (PRDs), user stories, and acceptance criteria for engineering and design teams
  • Partner closely with engineering, design, and QA throughout Title Management’s development lifecycle to ensure timely, high‑quality delivery
  • Gather, analyze, and synthesize user feedback, product usage data, and market research to inform product decisions and identify new opportunities
  • Communicate product plans, release timelines, and progress updates to internal stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency across teams
  • Act as the voice of the customer, balancing user needs with technical constraints and business objectives
To be successful in this role, we ask that you have:
  • Demonstrated success managing end‑to‑end product delivery, from discovery and requirements through launch and iteration
  • Hands‑on experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and product management tools (e.g., Jira), including backlog grooming and sprint planning
  • Ability to read, write, and modify SQL queries to explore data, validate assumptions, and support product decisions
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to evaluate tradeoffs and recommend solutions
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a proven ability to identify edge cases and potential risks before product release
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate product requirements and decisions to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering, design, and business teams to drive outcomes
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
Education and experience requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3-6 years of experience in product management, product ownership, or a closely related role
  • Direct experience with B2B software products, preferably enterprise or workflow‑driven platforms
  • Hands‑on experience working with engineering teams using Agile methodologies
  • Experience in publishing, media, content management, or metadata‑driven systems strongly preferred
  • Solid SQL skills strongly preferred
  • Agile/Scrum certifications (CSPO, PSPO, PMP, SAFe, etc.) are a plus
  • Hands‑on experience with Firebrand Technologies’ Title Management application is a plus
