An owner-managed business based in South Manchester, SciMed employs 40 people across the UK. In Ireland, our operations are conducted via our sister company, Dublin Analytical Instruments Ltd.

With over 40 years of successful collaboration with Parr Instrument Company, SciMed is the exclusive distributor of Parr’s world-leading laboratory-scale pressure vessels and calorimeters across the UK and Ireland. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a territory-focused Product Manager to manage and expand our Parr business in the south of the UK and throughout Ireland. The exact north/south territory split will be finalised based on the successful candidate’s location.

A small part of the role will also involve managing the sales of Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) products from CIKTEQ.

Responsibilities

The Role

The Product Manager will primarily act as a Technical Sales Specialist, directly managing and growing sales across their territory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a territory sales plan identifying key customers and growth opportunities.
  • Proactively prospect and visit customers to achieve and exceed sales targets.
  • Build and maintain in-depth knowledge of the Parr product range and competitor offerings.
  • Understand and respond to customers’ technical and business needs.
  • Deliver product demonstrations and attend exhibitions, roadshows, and conferences.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records for activities, customer interactions, and opportunities.
  • Provide accurate and timely sales forecasts.
  • Manage customer relationships to ensure long-term satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Deliver product installations, customer training, and after-sales technical support.
  • Work closely with internal teams to support marketing activities and new business initiatives.
  • Provide market feedback to SciMed and our suppliers.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Technical understanding of chemical process equipment.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Strong organisational and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Negotiation skills and commercial acumen.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic team player.
  • Confident in client-facing roles and willing to travel extensively across the territory.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for training (e.g., USA, China, Europe) when required.
  • Experience with pressure vessels in a research or industrial setting.
  • Field sales experience with chemistry-related laboratory equipment.
  • Track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets.
  • Experience selling capital equipment and/or scientific instruments.
  • CRM system experience.
  • Knowledge of EPR spectroscopy.

Location of role

Home-based within the South of England or Midlands, ideally located to support the territory. Overnight stays and regular travel will be required.

This role is proposed to be between full time, Monday to Friday.

Selection Process

The selection process will be as follows:
  • Long-listing of applicants (up to 10 candidates).
  • 30-minute initial online interviews.

  • Final in-person interview at SciMed’s Stockport office (1 hour).
  • Offer subject to two satisfactory references, including one from your current or most recent employer.

Start Date
