Purpose
This role is responsible for maximizing the growth of volume and gross margin for the product group(s) in the portfolio, working in conjunction with suppliers and the M. Holland Sales Team. Responsibilities include developing and implementing long-term supply strategies, building relationships with key suppliers, negotiating supply agreements, creating and maintaining price guides for Sales, and working with Supply Chain to provide market-driven guidance regarding inventory management, generation of supplier forecasts, and packaging strategy. This role can be performed from a home office based in the United States and will require regular overnight travel.

Areas of Responsibility / Tasks
  1. Lead the development of portfolio strategies, with the support of Sales Management, which meet both M. Holland Company and Supplier growth goals.
  2. Establish and grow volumes in alignment with objectives of the portfolio’s strategic suppliers.
  3. Optimize the balance across product slates, sales volumes, sales prices, gross margin per pound, and inventory to generate the best possible return on the company’s investment in the portfolio.
  4. Monitor market price trends to ensure market competitiveness.
  5. Leverage M. Holland’s technology platform to drive market share expansion through innovative sales and product solutions.
  6. Differentiate M. Holland as the preferred distribution channel for our supplier partners by meeting growth goals and developing deep, sustainable relationships.
  7. Achieve portfolio annual budget goals for revenue and profits.
  8. Work with Sales & Business Development to establish a value-driven presence with key customer accounts.
  9. Collaborate with Supply Chain and Sales to reduce slow-moving and obsolete inventory.
  10. Use MHC’s CRM system to support Account Managers in developing a pipeline of prospects and new business opportunities.
  11. Partner with Marketing Communications to develop sales and marketing tools to communicate M. Holland’s value proposition.
  12. Attend industry trade shows and build a network in relevant industry associations.
  13. Manage entertainment and travel budgets with portfolio suppliers.
Competencies; Knowledge, Skills, Abilities (KSA)
  • Experience in Account Management, Business Development, Market Development, or Purchasing Management, preferably in Distribution or Supplier organizations.
  • Experience in a matrixed commercial organization.
  • Willingness to travel extensively, including international travel.
  • Proven ability to identify and present innovative solutions.
  • Sourcing experience including negotiating supply agreements, developing price guides, inventory management, forecasting, and packaging strategies.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills to influence and inspire others.
  • Experience with contracts management.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM technology.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with a history of increasing responsibility.
  • Seven+ years in the plastic resin industry preferred.
  • Ability to influence senior management.
  • Excellent presentation and planning skills.
  • International business development experience is a plus.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 7 years related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in English.
Work Environment / Conditions
  • Adaptable to shared workspace and noise levels.
  • This is a remote role.
