Job description

Overview

Title: Product Manager – Industrial Controls & Embedded Systems

LOCATION: Tucson, AZ (Onsite, Relocation Package Available)

Company context

Our client is a global leader in outdoor, ruggedized hardware and software systems that is hiring a Controls Product Manager to own a portfolio of ruggedized electronics and electromechanical systems that operate in harsh, real-world environments. Their products are deployed across critical water and land management infrastructure that impact millions of dollars per customer on a worldwide scale, where uptime, reliability, and durability are non-negotiable.

This role offers long-term stability inside a large, global, engineering-driven company where product managers are trusted to truly own what they build. You will have real autonomy over a mission-critical hardware portfolio, strong leadership support, and the opportunity to shape infrastructure that directly impacts water use, land management, and sustainability at scale.

Company culture

The culture is stable, collaborative, and deeply engineering driven, with leadership that values long-term thinking over short-term noise. Teams are trusted to do meaningful work, innovation is grounded in real customer and field needs, and you will be working for a market-leading organization with experienced, supportive leadership that knows how to build products that last.

Core responsibilities
  • Lead Sustaining Product Management: Own the commercial and technical health of a portfolio of control systems and field devices
  • Track field reliability, warranty, quality, revenue, margin, and cost trends
  • Drive cross-functional actions to resolve failures, delivery issues, and performance gaps
  • Lead cost reduction, component changes, lifecycle, and end-of-life decisions
  • Build and execute growth plans for the product portfolio
  • Drive Customer and Market-Driven Improvements: Collect and analyze feedback from customers, installers, and field teams
  • Translate real-world usage into prioritized hardware and firmware enhancements
  • Define and justify product line extensions and derivatives
  • Partner with NPD teams on next-generation roadmap planning
  • Partner with Engineering and Operations: Work closely with hardware, firmware, and systems engineering
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and quality teams in the US and Mexico
  • Ensure products meet durability, environmental, and delivery requirements
Required experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in product management, ideally for B2B, commercial scale products that include both hardware and software systems components
  • Minimum of 2 years of product management specifically for commercial-scale products in these areas: embedded controls systems, robotics, kiosks and POS systems, security systems, defense systems, construction and landscaping / farming equipment, industrial devices and controls systems, field-deployed electromechanical systems, and/or ruggedized hardware
  • Experience managing in-market products through their full lifecycle
  • Comfort owning revenue, margin, cost, and quality metrics and making recommendations based on that data
  • Strong analytical and communication skills and ability to work well with multiple stakeholders
  • Must be currently eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship
  • Must be located in the Greater Tucson Area or open to relocation within 1-2 months of acceptance
  • Must be open to working onsite minimum of 3 days per week
Preferred and bonus experience
  • Outdoor or harsh-environment hardware
  • Distributed field devices and control networks
  • Leading or contributing to multi-million-dollar NPD programs
  • Experience in irrigation systems, landscaping systems, or land management
Compensation package

Total Compensation: $170K to $255K (including base salary and 10% incentive bonus)
