Job description

United States, Texas, Austin.

Job Summary

As a Product Manager for Dealer Group Management within vAuto – a Cox Automotive company – you will be responsible for defining, prioritizing, and evolving the capabilities that help dealer groups operate more effectively across Provision, ProfitTime GPS, and Conquest. Your focus is the group manager's world: how they set pricing strategies across stores, configure shared settings, monitor group‑level performance, and act on insights across their entire network.

In this role, you will serve as the product manager for one of vAuto's AI Transformed Teams (AITs) – a small, empowered product team working in an AI‑first, spec‑driven development model. On an AIT, the PM’s role evolves: you write clearer, more detailed product specs that enable your team to build with greater speed and confidence using AI‑assisted development. Discovery, specification, and delivery are tighter and more iterative than in traditional models.

You will work closely with the Product Director over Dealer Group Management to maintain a healthy, well‑reasoned product roadmap and help evolve the group management strategy. You translate business strategy and dealer insights into actionable epics and features, and you stay close to delivery – partnering with engineering, UX, and architecture to ship product that makes a real difference for group managers every day.

We want someone who forms opinions fast and shares them openly – someone who can make a case, defend a point of view, and is equally comfortable being wrong and updating their thinking. You thrive in a team environment, know how to bring diverse stakeholders toward a shared direction, and you take initiative without waiting to be told what to look into next.

Primary Duties & Key Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Roadmap
  • Support the Product Director in maintaining and evolving the dealer group management roadmap across Provision, ProfitTime GPS, and Conquest, including adjacent capabilities such as DTN (Dealer Trade Network), automated pricing, and enterprise dashboards and reporting.
  • Translate organizational objectives and dealer group needs into a clear, prioritized backlog of epics and features with well‑defined outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the group manager’s experience – helping them work smarter, move faster, and make better decisions across their stores.
  • Stay current on competitive dynamics, industry trends, and the evolving operational needs of dealer groups to proactively inform product strategy.
Stakeholder & Market Insight
  • Build deep fluency in dealer group management workflows – how group managers use vAuto tools to configure strategy, monitor performance, standardize settings, and manage inventory across multiple stores.
  • Conduct continuous discovery with dealers, dealer group managers, and internal partners including Business Development, Account Performance Managers, Customer Support, Sales, and Implementation teams.
  • Synthesize feedback across multiple channels into coherent problem statements and well‑scoped product opportunities.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on dealer group management use cases, workflows, and pain points across vAuto’s product suite.
Execution & Delivery (AIT Model)
  • Serve as product manager for a dedicated AI Transformed Team (AIT), working within vAuto’s AI‑first, spec‑driven development model where tight, well‑written specifications enable faster, higher‑quality engineering execution.
  • Write clear, detailed epics and features that give your team everything they need to build confidently – including context, acceptance criteria, edge cases, and measurable outcomes.
  • Own the product backlog at the epic and feature level in close partnership with the Product Director, maintaining clarity on priorities, scope, and delivery accountability.
  • Partner with engineering, UX, and architecture to deliver high‑quality features and enhancements that improve dealer group management workflows.
Cross‑Functional Leadership & Go‑To‑Market
  • Communicate product plans, priorities, and release updates clearly and consistently to internal partners across sales, implementation, support, and leadership.
  • Support launch readiness activities including release communications, documentation, and enablement for internal teams who serve dealer group customers.
  • Build strong working relationships across vAuto and Cox Automotive product, engineering, UX, and business teams.
Performance & Optimization
  • Track feature adoption, usage trends, and product health metrics to assess impact and surface opportunities for improvement.
  • Use data and dealer feedback to continuously refine and improve dealer group management capabilities.
  • Support timely resolution of product issues and escalations in partnership with support, engineering, and product leadership.
Required Experience, Specialized Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, data analytics, or a related discipline and 2 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and up to 2 years’ experience; or 6 years’ experience in a related field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Product Management or Product Owner roles in a SaaS or software product environment. Candidates with approximately 1 year of experience may be considered when paired with strong domain knowledge of vAuto products, dealer operations, or dealer group management.
  • Demonstrated ability to form, communicate, and defend a well‑reasoned product point of view – while remaining genuinely open to feedback, new information, and evolving direction.
  • A fast learner who takes initiative, digs into unfamiliar problems independently, and quickly builds working fluency in new domains and customer workflows.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and backlog management tools (Rally preferred).
  • Acts with integrity and has foundational skills in building cross‑functional partnerships with stakeholders, driving innovation, focusing on execution, and striving for excellence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to craft clear written materials, write well‑defined product specifications, and present ideas effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience with vAuto products – specifically Provision, ProfitTime GPS, or Conquest – or direct experience supporting dealer group management functionality is a significant plus.
  • Experience working directly with dealers, dealer group managers, or automotive retail stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with automotive inventory management, vehicle pricing workflows, or dealer group operational structures.
  • Experience working within or alongside AI‑enabled development teams and comfort with AI tooling as part of the product development lifecycle.
