Job summary

TAS Energy Inc is seeking a Product Manager in Houston, Texas, to lead innovative initiatives and oversee project execution from proposal through closeout. You will ensure on-budget and on-schedule performance while acting as the customer's advocate throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in engineering, at least 7 years of relevant experience, and strong management skills. Extensive travel and the ability to work in construction locations are essential.

Job description

Position Overview

TAS is seeking a Product Manager to lead innovative initiatives and oversee project execution from proposal through closeout. The role ensures on‑budget and on‑schedule performance and acts as the customer advocate throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proposal Stage: Assist Application Engineering with construction cost interface; manage preliminary design; solicit bids from installation contractors; fine‑tune scope; prepare and review pre‑award budgets.
  • Project Award: Take full customer interface for engineering, delivery, and construction at the time of project order; define scope, schedule, and budget controls during the pre‑award stage.
  • Engineering & Fabrication: Serve as the main communication point between TAS and the customer; coordinate with the Master Scheduler to establish the project schedule; distribute and review all project documentation; interact with suppliers on scope, commercial, and schedule matters; orchestrate internal resources for execution; prepare scope documents such as Master Document Lists and distribution lists; conduct periodic budget reviews and forecasts; analyze accounting data for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Contract/Construction: Act as the single contact point for all technical issues; issue field construction documents; coordinate with the Project Engineer for equipment selections, production issues, purchasing, and control; manage payments to contractors and suppliers; protect against scope creep and solicit change orders; implement risk management and capture lessons learned throughout the project life cycle.
  • Startup & Closeout: Coordinate with Service Department on commissioning, training, and start‑up schedules; expedite project closeout and retainage release; conduct warranty kickoff meetings with Service Department.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by TAS.
Job Skills
  • Sound knowledge of business management principles and strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong contract management experience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.
  • Ability to set priorities and work independently.
  • Cross‑functional knowledge in refrigeration, civil/structural/mechanical design, power wiring, and controls architecture.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, ERP, and related databases.
  • Familiarity with ANSI, ASME, API, and OSHA Standards.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Minimum 7 years in Project Engineering or Project Management with significant experience in packaged equipment.
  • Experience in industrial HVAC, ESCO, geothermal process, or data center projects.
  • Power generation experience.
  • Expertise in cost estimating, construction management, risk management, vendor management, insurance, and bonding.
Education and Training
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
  • Professional Engineer license and financial coursework or degree is a plus.
  • Miltary leadership or technical experience may be considered in lieu of an engineering degree.
Special Requirements
  • Extensive domestic and international travel.
  • Ability to work in field construction locations, including ladder climbing.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The position is primarily desk‑based, requiring 80%‑95% computer work. Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds, and routine use of fingers, sitting, stooping, bending, crouching, and repetitive motions may be required. Visual acuity for color, depth perception, and field of vision is necessary to prepare and analyze data. Working conditions are indoors.
