Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Product Manager for the Core Models team in San Francisco. You will translate user needs into model and system decisions, guiding prompts, data handling, and transitions from research prototypes to the mainline model and launch stack.

You will work across research, engineering, data science, and product to ensure capabilities improve over time while balancing quality, latency, safety, and cost.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in product management or closely related experience.
• Fluency in domains such as search and information retrieval, ML platforms, or AI product infrastructure.
• Ability to pair offline evaluation with online experimentation and user signals.

Responsibilities

• Translate user and product goals into model requirements, system architecture choices, and research priorities.
• Define success across offline evaluations and online product metrics.
• Partner with post-training research, applied product engineering, Model Design, and Data Science to integrate capabilities into the mainline model stack.
• Create reusable platforms and operating systems for evaluation, experimentation, and signal collection.
