What Product Management Is Like At Gusto

  • We’re looking for high-autonomy, entrepreneurial Product Managers to come build high-impact solutions for small businesses and their employees. We believe in high-ownership Product Managers who operate like business owners - owning an entire roadmap end to end and shipping product all the way from strategy through to the nitty gritty details (some describe this kind of role as a “GM” type role).
  • Our Product team is lean, which means you’ll have a high degree of impact and ownership.
  • We’re here to serve small and medium businesses. Gusto has a strong mission-driven culture, and we care deeply about lifting up these business owners.

About The Team

The Members Financial Products team elevates the value of work and the impact of income for our users. We craft financial tools designed to empower individuals paid through our platform, offering them greater control, increased confidence, and more money from every hard-earned paycheck. Growing from a startup team to a scaled organization, our team not only supports millions of users, but also drives $XX million in ARR. As critical contributors to Gusto’s rapidly evolving financial services offerings, we sustain and expand multiple product lines geared towards enhancing our customers' financial lives by making a tangible difference in how people manage and perceive their finances.

Here’s What You’ll Do Day-to-day

  • Ownership: Develop and communicate a clear product vision aligned with business objectives. Lead initiatives to streamline product development processes and reduce time-to-market while maintaining quality.
  • North Star: Drive user confidence and trust by delivering a stable and seamless product experience that is built on top of robust integrations, efficient operations, and a comprehensive risk program.
  • Collaborate: Collaborate with stakeholders across departments including Engineering, Risk, Operations, Legal and Compliance, Finance, and Design to align product goals with business strategies, key product metrics, roadmaps, and performance reports.
  • Integration Management: Technical aptitude to dive into the details of financial services providers with engineering partners to ensure high-quality outcomes
    • Oversee the integration of new technologies and third-party services to enhance product functionality and user experience. Ensure seamless API integrations and partnerships that support our product offerings
  • Risk Management: Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies to mitigate financial and operational risks
    • Partner with the Risk team to help deliver a comprehensive risk management framework tailored to our fintech products
Here’s What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of direct Product Management experience in Fintech, preferably with deep knowledge of fintech platforms
  • Proven track record in leading product development from conception through to launch
    • Including knowledge of financial markets, regulations, and fintech ecosystem
  • Entrepreneurial, driven, passionate about our mission, and have deep empathy for our customers
  • Worked with mission-critical financial service providers to deliver cohesive product experiences
  • Strong strategic thinking with a keen analytical mindset
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to navigate complex technical environments and integrate various systems
If you don't think you meet all of the criteria above but still are interested in the job, please apply. Nobody checks every box, and we're looking for someone excited to join the team.
