Contract type: Direct employment with our client
Salary range: to $170.000 + Benefits
Our client is a technology company developing the next generation of an enterprise automotive SaaS platform, with AI and autonomous operators becoming a core part of how dealership workflows are executed.
They are looking for a highly technical and execution-focused Product Manager to sit at the intersection of AI R&D, Product, Engineering and automotive dealership technology.
This is not a conventional Product Manager role focused primarily on roadmaps, Jira, ceremonies and stakeholder management. The key challenge is understanding complex operational workflows and working with AI and Engineering teams to determine how those processes can realistically be redesigned around AI, agentic workflows and autonomous operators.
The role will help take an emerging AI R&D programme and turn it into a scalable, commercial product.
What we are looking for
- 3–4+ years of Product Management experience, ideally within a startup, scale-up or technically complex product environment
- Strong technical literacy and the ability to work closely and credibly with Software, AI and Data Engineering teams
- Experience with AI-enabled products, ideally involving Generative AI, LLMs, automation or agentic AI
- Understanding of autonomous/agentic AI concepts including tool use, multi-step workflows, autonomous execution, sub-agents and human-in-the-loop processes
- Ability to understand complex business workflows and translate them into scalable technical product solutions
- Strong experience owning products/features from discovery and ideation through delivery, launch and iteration
- Ability to challenge requirements based on technical feasibility, complexity, cost and product value rather than simply passing requirements to Engineering
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
- Data-driven approach to product decisions, adoption and performance
Ideal background
- Previous experience within automotive technology, dealerships or Dealer Management Systems (DMS) would be highly valuable
- Technical Product Manager / AI Product Manager background with genuine exposure to emerging AI technologies
- Previous Software Engineering or technical background would be particularly interesting
- Experience taking AI or emerging-technology products from R&D / zero-to-one towards production
- Experience mapping complex operational processes and redesigning them around automation or AI
- Hands-on exposure to modern AI tooling, APIs or automation platforms
- Experience with complex third-party integrations
- SQL and data analysis experience
- Experience working across distributed Engineering, Product and business teams
What you'll be doing
- Working closely with automotive/DMS stakeholders to understand how dealership processes currently operate
- Breaking complex operational workflows into tasks, decision points, data dependencies and potential AI capabilities
- Determining where autonomous operators and AI can realistically automate or improve existing workflows
- Leading product delivery from discovery and experimentation through rollout and iteration
- Acting as a technical partner to AI and Engineering teams, contributing to architecture and implementation discussions
- Challenging requirements and helping determine what is technically feasible, commercially valuable and appropriate for AI
- Helping shape the roadmap for an emerging AI-powered automotive platform
- Supporting early AI experimentation and validating ideas before committing to full development cycles
- Managing multiple initiatives and dependencies across Product, Engineering, AI/R&D and automotive stakeholders
- Defining success metrics and using product data to drive prioritisation and iteration
Beyond the technical skills
- Comfortable operating in an R&D / zero-to-one environment where both the technology and product are still evolving
- Curious about Generative AI, agentic AI and autonomous systems beyond surface-level terminology
- Able to challenge both business and technical stakeholders when something doesn't make product or engineering sense
- Strong ownership mentality and comfortable working across different teams and organisations
- Excellent communication skills and able to translate between business problems and highly technical teams
- Passionate about building products rather than simply managing delivery
