Job description

About Kikoff

Kikoff: A FinTech Unicorn Powering Financial Progress with AI. At Kikoff, our mission is to provide radically affordable financial tools to help consumers achieve financial security. We are a profitable, high‑growth FinTech unicorn serving millions of people, many of whom are building credit or navigating life paycheck to paycheck. With innovative technology and AI, we simplify credit building, reduce debt, and expand access to financial opportunities to those who need them the most. Founded in 2019, Kikoff is headquartered in San Francisco and backed by top‑tier VC investors and NBA star Stephen Curry.

Why Kikoff

This is a consumer fintech startup, and you will be working with serial entrepreneurs who have built strong consumer brands and innovative products. We value extreme ownership, clear communication, a strong sense of craftsmanship, and the desire to create lasting work and relationships. Yes, you can build an exciting business AND have real‑life customer impact.

About the Role

An ideal member of the product team likes to roll their sleeves up and dive in. You might conduct user interviews, dig into the database, wireframe in Miro, and dogfood the latest mobile app release, all before lunch. Because you are passionate about solving deeply personal financial problems for consumers, you will do whatever it takes to find the right solutions. You'll also work collaboratively within your dedicated product team that includes design and engineering, as well as cross‑functionally with marketing, legal, operations, leadership and whoever else you need to get it done. You won't stop until the data tells you it's right.

This is a full‑time position in our San Francisco HQ with benefits and equity in a fast‑moving and fast‑growing environment that will help you grow your abilities and career as you help build a better ecosystem of credit for our customers.

What You Can Expect in This Role
  • Look deeply at the data and talk to users to find what engages them and create engagement loops using content and experiences that leverage product, comms and alert touch points.
  • Constantly develop and experiment on experiences and types of content that will keep users hooked.
  • Drive strategic insights that shape roadmaps for engineering, design and marketing using data and user stories to build conviction.
  • Explore our data and users to create interesting segments and relevant insights and content to drive a virtuous loop of engagement.
  • Take direction from leadership regarding the key objectives your team needs to drive, but outline a roadmap with your product team to achieve successful outcomes, together.
  • Drive the discovery process to form a deep understanding of our users and to uncover the products and features that will best empower those consumers.
  • Reach beyond instinct alone to capture and analyze the right data to allow you to make the most informed decisions as you continue to evolve your approach.
  • Champion your products within your team, across the company, and with consumers.
What Will Help Make You Successful
  • Excellent writing and communication skills to communicate both with users and internally to drive strategy, learning and iteration.
  • Readiness to roll up your sleeves in all parts of the content journey from copy to setting up comms and product touch points to measuring and interpreting results.
  • Extremely data driven and constantly looking for the “why” behind the data to understand what drives user behaviors and explains metric patterns. Pulling the data yourself is a strong plus.
  • You have empathy for consumers and a passion for solving consumer problems in new and innovative ways.
  • You feel comfortable in the driver's seat and have a natural way of knowing how to get to the destination, but also know when it's time for others to drive.
  • You've worked on successful digital consumer products for at least 2 years, preferably in a fast‑paced startup environment.
  • You can wear as many hats as necessary including marketer, researcher, interface designer, analyst, and friend.
  • An interest in and/or history working on modern consumer financial tools and products, with your own perspective on how best to innovate in this space.
Ideal Candidates
  • Current undergraduate and master students or early career professionals with high potential such as from consulting or investment banking.
  • A passion for solving problems derived from data‑driven thinking and user needs.
  • A futurist who can collaboratively lead a team to build toward a vision.
  • Highly motivated, curious, and adaptable individuals.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and first‑principles problem‑solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential and eagerness to learn.
  • Strategic thinker able to breakdown and organize problems, assess opportunity areas, and develop big ideas and priorities to move the business forward.
  • Have strong bias to action and hunger to move fast and flexibly.
  • Technical background a big plus such as being able to pull data with SQL and read code.
Benefits
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage – Kikoff covers the full cost of health insurance for the employee.
  • Meaningful equity in the form of RSUs.
  • 20 days of paid time off per year – we encourage taking real time away to recharge and do your best work.
  • 401(k) plan with a meaningful employer match to help you invest in your future.
  • Competitive pay based on experience consisting of base + equity + benefits.
