Job Summary:

The Product Manager will own our denials and appeals product — one of three products under our Medical Necessity umbrella, alongside Utilization Review and a peer-to-peer tool — as it grows across a widening set of health system clients and use cases. This is an ownership seat: you will decide what gets built, for whom, and in what order, and you will be accountable for whether it works when a real utilization review nurse sits down in front of it.

You will develop requirements directly with customers, partner with engineering and design to turn them into shipped software, and stay close enough to live deployments to know whether what you built actually landed. We are looking for someone who has built AI products before, not someone who has managed a roadmap adjacent to one — the hard problems here are specific to this kind of work: what to do when the model is right most of the time, how much to show a clinician before you have earned their trust, where the human belongs in the loop, and how you know any of it is working. This position requires deep comfort operating in Jira, real product judgment under ambiguity, and genuine curiosity about how care gets authorized, denied, and appealed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the denials and appeals product end to end — discovery, requirements, delivery, launch, and iteration

• Define what good looks like for an AI feature in a clinical and financial workflow: accuracy thresholds, human review points, failure behavior, and the production metrics that prove it works

• Manage the day-to-day interaction between customers, design, and engineering: translate requests into clear, buildable work with real acceptance criteria

• Own prioritization across competing customer needs, and the reasoning behind each call

• Take features from zero to one — shape the concept, get something real in front of customers fast, and iterate on what you learn

• Feed patterns back into the roadmap: when three customers ask for the same thing, be the person who noticed

• Coordinate with the teams owning Utilization Review and the peer-to-peer tool so the Medical Necessity products feel like one coherent suite

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree

• 3+ years in product management, owning a product or a substantial product area end to end

• Demonstrated experience shipping a real product to a real customer: you owned something from early stage through to a customer using it in production and continuing to use it. School projects and internships do not count here

• Demonstrable experience building AI products. You have shipped something where the model was central to the product, and you can speak specifically to what you learned when it did not behave the way you expected

• Customer-facing experience developing requirements directly with customers, not through an intermediary

• Direct experience working with engineering and design teams — writing up requirements, managing a backlog, driving delivery against a sprint cadence

• Deep comfort with Jira as your primary working tool

• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to hold a thread across multiple customers and internal teams at once

• Able to work onsite in Palo Alto several days a week is strongly preferred, as the rest of the team is local. We will consider exceptional candidates elsewhere

IDEAL EXPERIENCE

• Zero-to-one experience — you have led the launch of a new product or major product area, or been close enough to one to know how it actually goes

• Healthcare domain knowledge, especially revenue cycle management, denials and appeals, prior authorization, or utilization review

• Experience at a mid-size company — scope broad enough to own something real, organization structured enough to ship reliably

• Exposure to enterprise or health system customers, and to the reality that every customer wants something slightly different

• Familiarity with healthcare workflows, terminology, or health system IT environments

• Genuine appetite to go deep on the utilization review and medical necessity domain

• Familiarity with Linear and Notions

DESIRABLE SKILLS

• Execution Bias: You would rather close ten things than debate one. You default to making the list and working the list

• Builder Instincts: You reach for a prototype or a working example rather than a longer document. Deep vibe-coding skill is not required — our analysts handle much of the early build — but you think like someone who makes things

• Ownership: Given an ambiguous customer request, you drive it to a decision rather than waiting for one

• Cross-Functional Judgment: You can sit between a customer, a designer, and an engineer and make all three feel heard while still moving the work forward

• Prioritization Instinct: When two customers want incompatible things in the same sprint, you can frame the tradeoff clearly enough for someone to decide

• Learning Agility: You get to real fluency in a new clinical domain fast, and you ask good questions while you're getting there

• Product Judgment: You can decide with incomplete information, say why you decided that way, and change your mind when the evidence moves

Pay & Benefits: The pay range for this role is between $110,000 - $140,000, and will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. This role is also eligible for equity and benefits.
