Job description

The organization is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. As a Product Manager, you are responsible for leading the product planning and product marketing processes for new and existing products, ensuring that the company’s portfolio is useful to the market and profitable for the business. This includes managing the portfolio throughout the product life cycle, gathering and prioritizing technology and customer requirements, and defining and maintaining product line viability. Responsibilities are accomplished while serving as a facilitator, coordinator, and leader between internal organizations to ensure product scoping and processes are supported and executed accurately.

Responsibilities
  • Product positioning and in-market execution for industrial process and thermal equipment portfolio
  • Manage assigned product lines including product positioning, enhancement, and in-market execution through sales teams and channel partners.
  • Develop product strategy to ensure effective management of the product portfolio in meeting market needs and supporting business goals.
  • Manage product positioning and performance through analysis of sales, margin, competitive strategy, channel/brand strategy, market share and churn.
  • Determine revenue, pricing strategy, and margin projections for a range of products and achieve revenue and margin growth.
  • Manage product data and develop market materials and information to ensure the sales force is aware of new and relevant developments in the market.
  • Scope business requirements, market needs, competitive environment and objectives of each product.
  • Gather and review market segmentation, market share, and sizing analysis for product ranges, applications, and channels.
  • Gather and review competitive analysis to understand competitor offerings, technical capabilities, market position, value proposition, and intellectual property considerations.
  • Collaborate with the field sales force to assess the response to and suitability of promotional material and to ensure promotional material is used optimally.
  • Develop technical marketing collateral (e.g., white papers, training units, technical bulletins) to craft external messages and support marketing.
  • Cross-functional collaboration and support
  • Support change management for Product Manager-related functions supporting product integration, launches, and changes throughout implementation.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal organizations including (but not limited to):
  • Engineering to deliver products that meet specifications and customer needs.
  • Sales to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met across channel partners.
  • Marketing Communications in the development and execution of required collateral.
  • Operations to plan, source, and manufacture parts and finished goods effectively.
  • Regulatory / Compliance / Legal to keep products compliant and mitigate risk and liability.
  • Lead and/or partner in the development, approval, and communication of business cases and their associated customer, operations, and process impacts. Business case development includes financial evaluations, competitive and market analyses, customer needs, critical success factors, sales justifications, and other components.
  • Provide the sales team with necessary technical expertise and sales tools to enable them to sell new and existing products, including printed and electronic promotional material, product training, and other relevant collateral.
  • Product portfolio strategy and roadmaps for the industrial process portfolio
  • Create product roadmaps and execute product strategy and business plans to maintain an optimal range of products based on customer-focused research and competitive analysis.
  • Manage the NPI/VAVE process to ensure relevant projects are delivered on time to meet market needs.
  • Lead the line review process.
  • Develop, set, and execute new product launch plans based on market assessment and validate product design meets customer requirements.
  • Lead products with cross-functional teams through the New Product Introduction stage gate process.
  • Assess and implement value-engineering activities necessary for product evolution and relevance.
  • Establish, monitor, and determine key performance indicators for key products and projects.
Qualifications
  • Required experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in product management, brand management, market management, or engineering management.
  • Experience using market, channel, industry, and commercial intelligence to make commercial decisions.
  • Experience with multi-channel and diverse end-market pricing strategy.
  • Preferred experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Experience in HVAC, industrial thermal, or related process heating systems preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in B2B business strategies (B2B and B2C experience is a plus).
  • Demonstrated success in channel and/or brand management across multiple channels preferred.
  • Demonstrated success in setting and managing product portfolio strategies from introduction through sun-setting preferred.
  • Experience with highly engineered solutions such as industrial thermal systems preferred.Strong analytical skills; ability to analyze data/information, manage and negotiate across functions, and arrive at the best solutions.
  • Strong organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to prioritize projects and efforts and influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Ability to assess and present complex problems in a structured, simplified form.
  • High level of critical thinking in cross-functional process analysis and problem resolution for new and existing products.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage change effectively and an advocate mindset for continuous improvement.
  • Education & certifications
  • B.S. degree in Engineering, Business, or Marketing required. MBA preferred.
  • Travel & working environment
  • Some travel expected (up to ~25% of the time), as needed.
  • Must have access to high-speed internet and phone service.
  • Must have reasonable access to major transportation hubs (for occasional travel).
