Reading Truck is seeking a Product Manager to lead cross-functional teams across product families, shaping the lifecycle from concept to market. This role requires collaboration with sales, marketing, and operations to ensure products meet customer needs and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in manufacturing or automotive product management, with strong skills in roadmapping, portfolio development, and competitive analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, sales, marketing or engineering preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing industry; automotive product management or related roles beneficial.
• Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards is a plus.
• Project/Program management in Phase/Gate environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify new products or changes to meet customer needs and explore new markets.
• Develop product portfolios and development roadmaps for assigned families of products.
• Analyze product usage, profitability, and market trends; advise on improvements.
• Collaborate with Marketing on product positioning, branding, and promotions.
• Provide product training and support to sales and operations; manage price books.

How You Will Make an Impact

The Product Manager leads cross-functional teams to identify, develop and manage the full lifecycle of product families, delivering products that meet customers’ needs, are safe and sustainable, and align with strategic business objectives.

The Nuts and Bolts

• Work with customers, vendors, and internal partners to identify new products, or changes to existing products, to meet customer needs, additionally, search for new product ideas that can create new markets or market segments and bring new customers to our business


• Develop comprehensive Product Portfolios and Development Roadmaps for families of products assigned to the Product Manager (the Product Portfolio details the product characteristics, configurations, target markets, and competitive landscape; the Product Roadmap details the evolution path of the product over its lifetime)


• Analyze and regularly report on product usage and performance trends, profitability, competitor activity, market and technology trends, and advise on product improvements and new product needs


• Collaborate with Marketing on product positioning, branding and promotional strategies


• Support sales and operations, with regular and ongoing product training, competitive product analysis/benchmarking, price-book management and revisions and product related communications and updates


• Work with Marketing, conduct qualitative and quantitative customer research to identify and propose new opportunities which will drive customer value, increase product revenue, and maximize profitability


• Routinely communicate with the sales force and internal stakeholders regarding product updates and availability, competitive activity, sales positioning, best practices, and new product development updates


• For new Product Development Programs or major product change projects, assist the Program Manager in development of Charters, definition of User Requirements and target market, development of Sales and Marketing strategies, benchmarking, defining cost and performance targets, setting milestone dates, and defining product performance objectives


• Develop and expand technical and business knowledge necessary for effective product portfolio management


• Remain abreast of the market, technology trends, the competition, and the environment, acting as an information resource to all functional areas; identify key competitors, understand and analyze the competitive market environment, develop plans to protect business from competitor-related activities


• Track product cost, warranty cost, customer satisfaction, product risk and liability opportunities; identify opportunities and initiate change activities to manage such opportunities

Required Credentials

• Bachelor's degree in business, Sales, Marketing or Engineering preferred


• Minimum seven (7) years of experience in Manufacturing in same or related industry; Automotive Product Management experience or


• Minimum seven (7) years of experience in Sales or Marketing in same or similar industry, or


• Minimum seven (7) years of experience in Engineering in same or related industry, or


• Knowledge of applicable service body and vehicle level safety and regulatory standards and requirements


• Project and Program management exposure in a Phase/Gate environment is preferred
