Job summary

Bain & Company in the United States is seeking MBA students for an Summer Associate internship focused on AI-powered product development within the AIS team. You’ll design, prototype, and launch digital products, blending strategy, product, and technology to deliver measurable impact.

About Bain Ai, Insights & Solutions (ais)

Bain’s AI, Insights & Solutions (AIS) team works with clients to design and deliver AI-powered and human-centric solutions that create measurable business impact. You’ll operate in multidisciplinary teams alongside Bain consultants, other experts in product, design, architecture and engineering, and client stakeholders, translating strategic ambitions into robust actionable, technology-enabled solutions.

What You'll Do

As a PM&I Summer Associate, you’ll work with cross-functional hybrid teams and leverage the best of Bain to continue to redefine Product Management in the age of AI. You’ll design, prototype, and launch new digital products, services, customer experiences, and businesses; sit at the intersection of strategy, product, and technology; and be a hands-on builder of modern digital solutions.

You'll Have The Opportunity To

• Identify and validate opportunities for innovation using human-centered design methods
• Translate user and business needs into product concepts, prototypes, and MVPs
• Contribute to product vision, strategy, and roadmap development for digital initiatives
• Partner with engineers, designers, and clients to test and iterate solutions rapidly
• Leverage emerging technologies — including AI, data platforms, and automation — to accelerate business outcomes
• Support agile ceremonies, define user stories, and help manage backlogs across cross-functional teams
• Support backlog & planning (story writing, acceptance criteria), contributing to lightweight PRDs and simple roadmap artifacts
• Document and share internship learnings to senior Bain leaders

This experience puts your product thinking and creativity to work on real business challenges, shaping solutions that are feasible, viable, and desirable.

What You'll Learn

During the internship, you’ll build a practical understanding of:

• How Bain combines consulting rigor with product management discipline to drive innovation at the intersection of business objectives, user needs, and technical & operational feasibility
• The full product lifecycle, from user research, to ideation and prototyping, to launching and scaling solutions
• Human-centered design, design thinking, agile, and lean startup methods in a consulting context
• Stakeholder management, like sharing product tradeoffs with business leaders and translating technical elements into business and user implications
• Business case definition, including sizing, measuring, and tracking the business value of digital solutions
• How to collaborate effectively across disciplines — strategy, technology, and design
• How emerging tools and AI are reshaping how Bain builds and scales digital products

You’ll gain exposure to real client work while developing the product leadership, strategic thinking, and stakeholder management skills that will accelerate your career.

About You

This role requires in-person collaboration. You’ll need to co-locate with your team at least three days a week, whether that’s in a Bain office or at a client site, which may require travel.

• Demonstrate excellent communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills
• Can rapidly absorb and interpret business context, technical information, and customer needs
• Are based in (or open to working from) New York or San Francisco

Pluses Include

• Prior experience in product management, startups, consulting, or technology
• Coursework from a related dual-degree program (e.g., engineering, computer science, design, or product management)
• Ability to use Gen-AI powered product development tools effectively (e.g., Cursor, Synthetic Users, V0, Loveable, etc.)
